They don't see it that way, though. It's not about not liking the gays. In most cases.

It's about not understanding an equivalence between same sex partnerships and 'traditional' partnerships.

NJ Governor Chris Christie has warned America's pot smokers that once he wins the White House, he will be enforcing the federal laws. Christie intends to re-criminalize recreational weed in Colorado, Oregon, Washington State, and Alaska.

Now, I understand that Christie's rhetoric is intended to earn him some votes among the Republican primary voters, most of whom oppose legal recreational weed. However... this shot across the bow is incredibly short-sighted. Pot smokers have stronger, more passionate opinions on legality because they're the ones who risk going to jail.

So even if only 5 percent of Coloradans are pot smokers, (I'm sure the actual percentage is much higher than that) Christie just told 267,800 voters that he wants their behavior criminalized. That's a tough sales pitch: "Vote for me, and I'll get you arrested." Memo to Christie: Colorado is a purple state that Bush won in 2004. Bush only beat Kerry in Colorado by 99,500 votes; Christie is recklessly gambling that he doesn't need those 267,800 votes. Good luck with that.

The sterotype of pot somkers is that they're too lazy & unmotivated to vote. But nothing motivates a pot smoker more than the threat of confiscating his pot, amirite?
