The term "binge watching" does go back to DVDs (pre-streaming). I read that the TV series 24 was particularly popular since the series mimicked the real passage of time.

Here is a negative article.

I will say that the worse the weather outside and less motivated I am the more I will binge watch. Though not always. No matter what, it is the new normal and here to stay.

I finished season 2 of Rick and Morty, and now the wait is on for season 3.... It will be a while. I think it premieres on Adult Swim later this year (not much this year left!), but who know when it will get to Netflix. In Mexico we don't really get Adult Swim, but I'll look it up.

The continuity is completely shot. They do bring up past eps, but not necessarily consistently. And I think the season 2 finale, a cliff-hanger, requires a massive stretch to make the central point believable.

But it's still a good, if twisted, show.

BTW, if they removed all uses of s---t, m--------s, f--k, etc. Each ep would last like 2 minutes :)

The findings also showed that those who lacked the ability to control themselves were more likely to binge-watch

Totally agree. I've only ever binge watched
a couple times and found it distasteful. You
miss the nuances of what you're watching,
it's like eating an entire chocolate cake in
one sitting. You feel sick afterwards.

As I said yesterday, the feeling is there at times
to watch 'just one more' episode. But I don't,
I know it will be there tomorrow and I move on
to something else. I had a friend once who was
like that with candy. He would by a 2# box of
chocolates and eat the entire box in an hour.
He had an addictive personality. I do not.

I actually agree with EB.

This is a well worded statement that sums up my thoughts on bingeing precisely.

I binged season 3 of Breaking Bad. Season 4 was just about to start on AMC and I had watched season 1 and season 2 as they aired, but didn't watch season 3 for some reason. So I bought the season 3 DVD and watched it all in like a day and a half. I felt miserable by the end.

With Netflix bingeing might be necessary. After all, you never know how long a show will remain available. Maybe you'd rather watch one ep per week, but what if he show's pulled before you're finished? The Netflix brand shows ought to stick around forever, but everything else won't.

Plenty of places publish what is coming to and leaving Netflix every month, so this has never been a problem for me.

Not true, Nflix always announces every
month what shows are being pulled in
a month. They give plenty of warning.

How about Black Mirror? New season coming up in a few days.

Black mirror rocks
Really good writing and interesting stories often with a sci fi twist.
Watched 1st 2 episodes, well done. Will watch more
Not really a series you binge on since every episode is stand alone with different stories and characters.

Just watched 1st episode of Luke Cage. This looks really good

Newspapers/magazines said Luke Cage would be good, but it's slow getting started. I watched 30 minutes of episode 1 of this morning. If it doesn't get better soon, I won't watch ep. 2.

I haven't heard many good things about Luke Cage.

I hear it's very uneventful.... some people even speculate that some of these Netflix shows are designed to be slow because they assume people are binging them and not even paying 100% attention while watching.
