In regards to God desiring a personal relationship with each and every one of us there is no doubt or confusion. I know you want to run away every time you are proven wrong but instead I ask you to pay attention and learn that the hallmark of any Christian is the belief that Jesus is indeed our best friend and Our Lord God and Savior. He desires in prayer to speak to us and us to Him. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

Can you imagine our world without God? The last official act of any government is to loot the treasury. GW |

No. There would be no world or universe without God. However, I can imagine a world without the incarnate God, Jesus. In fact for many years there was such a world. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

Every sentence you make begins with the premise that you are right, and they are wrong. That is not discussion. The last official act of any government is to loot the treasury. GW |

Because it's the truth. Your religion is so befuddled it has 2500 branches at each others throats trying to make sense out of it. To an outsider it makes zero sense.
He's your invisible best friend, don't forget. I prefer my friends to be alive, not some dead guy who died 2000 years ago. It's amazing what people can talk themselves into. Alien abductions, Bigfoot sightings, and dead guys as their best friends. There's meds for these kinds of delusions, thank god.. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

I disagree. Any discussion, or debate, about important topics should begin with someone thinking they are right and the other is wrong. The key in these discussions is to be open to challenges and truth that might challenge your position. I know it is hard to tell in the snarkiness of my interactions with Evenbob but I am very much open to such challenges that are valid and true. Sometimes I react negatively to the untruths that Bob claims in regards to my faith and that he is unwilling to listen or understand my positions. Take the most recent "discussion" we have been having. He claims that my faith, which he knows very little about, thinks that God speaking to us is not only wrong but at some point was a crime. This is blatantly false and doesn't advance the discussion. He, if you have noticed here and other places on the forum, is unable to admit when he is wrong and when confronted with something that challenges him prefers to run away, deny, or change the subject. That is not a discussion. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

Just look around, that's what we have. What's hard to imagine is a world where there is the god people pray to. A god that lets kids in Africa die by the hundreds daily, with their parents praying fervently for their survival. That's a sick god, a horrible god, a perverted god. I'm glad he only exists in twisted minds and not for real. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Just because you say I am wrong, doesn't mean I am, oh mighty one who thinks he's right about everything to the point of being ridiculous about it. There is no god, there is no dead guy giving you advice in your ear, there is no such thing as sin, because there is no god to offend, there is no heaven and hell. You can't prove me wrong on any of these points, but I'm wrong just because you say I am? That's the cult speaking thru you, and if this was a past time you would have me arrested as a heretic and have me silenced. But those times are gone, you have no power now, none. Oh wait, you have the power of prayer. Like I said, you have no power at all... If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Graeme Goldsworthy speaks to this (god speaking directly to people) question in his book Gospel and Wisdom. He writes, “There are no instances in the Bible in which God gives special and specific guidance to the ordinary believing Israelite or Christian in the details of their personal existence.” Yet we have people now who claim some god is talking to them daily. You hear it everywhere. This used to get you shunned or punished, now this craziness is just accepted as fact. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |
