I've been waiting for someone to spell this out, but people seem to have missed it.

A law that restricts transgender people to the bathroom which corresponds to their "birth sex" makes it far, far, far easier for men intent on rape to enter women's restrooms.

How?

Simple. transgender men, who typically look like cisgender men, would be forced by this law to use the women's restroom, as after all their "birth sex" is female. This means any man, transgender or cisgender, can claim a right to enter any women's restroom. A cisgender man can merely claim to be a transgender man and go right in. No need to pretend to be a transgender woman and go to the trouble of trying to pass as one.

Therefore any claim about protecting women is nothing but pure BS. These types of laws make women less safe.

Which is about par for the course for troglodytes wingnuts on both sides, but particularly of late on the GOP side. Their neurotic desire to keep anything from changing, or from accepting everyone has equal rights, leads them to all sorts of harmful measures.
