LOL @ Ted Cruz's speech. He really hates Trump.

Everything about Ted Cruz tells me he'll be running again as soon as possible. And probably 3 times or 4 if he doesn't succeed. Hope he gets beat every time.

I believe has already indicated he will run in 2020 even if Trump is President.

So has Kanye West, and I trust that statement about as much... it's far to early to be looking into the next election cycle...

Not that I'm a fan of Cruz's hard right politics, but... Cruz nailed it tonight, that speech was a home run. And this is the best political convention of my lifetime.

Cruz had the cajones to stand up to the bully, and it sets him apart from the spineless con-men Trump apologists (Carson, Pence, Perry, Christie, Newt, Rush, Hannity).

I think Carson may be a true believer in Trump. Leastwise he sounds nutty enough on his own. Christie is just flat out corrupt. He'd sell his mother's soul for more power. The rest, I'm not so sure about.

Pence is kind of a mystery to me. He doesn't seem like he'd align himself with someone like Trump. Maybe he's rationalized something out that makes it seem good.

Refusing to endorse is a big gamble on Cruz's part. If Trump loses in a landslide, Cruz will be well positioned for 2020.

But if the election is close and Trump loses by a slim margin, Cruz will be roundly blamed.

Is there a point to this question?

Some critics were saying that Trump's family was being given too much speaking time in this convention. I remember Michelle Obama getting some fierce criticism in 2008 for her speech.

But the last time that a POTUS candidate had a large family was 1988. I tried to remember or even research which members of his family gave speeches. DId Barbara, George W., or Jeb give a speech?

.

Many are saying his career ended tonight.
He was taken on his word that he would
support whoever won, a very big deal.
Trump first refused, then later agreed.
For Cruz to do this, in the eyes of the
party he's now toast. Nobody will trust
him. Kasich also took the same pledge,
he's dog doo-doo now also.

I've never seen a family like Trump's with
any other candidate. They should bring
them out as often as possible, the women
especially love it. My wife says Trump's
family has won over several Bernie
people where she works. They say if
he raised a family like that, he must have
a lot going for him. Emotion means a
lot in any election, and the family Trump
brings out that in a lot of people.

I keep hearing over and over that people
were blown out of the water by Melania,
a lot of them had never really seen her
before. Beautiful women by your side
has never hurt any man in history politically.
I'd vote for him just to see her for the next
8 years.

Pretty sure Trump himself was willing to flout the pledge. Cruz can just assume a double standard.
