I don't think he does remember, there
were way more than that. Trump had
zero minus chance of winning according
to him. Let alone being one of the
greatest presidents we've ever had.

You thought Mitt would win in 2012.
You didn’t think Trump would win in 2016.
You thought the GOP would hold the house by 15+ seats in 2018.

Take a seat.

And when he didn't, I never mentioned
it again. I didn't whine for years afterward.
And yes, I most definitely said Trump would
win. That's why you said things like:

And yet we are going to spend the next 6 months having to listen to the media (and righties on these boards) pretend that Trump actually has a chance

Why would you say that before the election
if I wasn't saying Trump would win. Gotcha..

I was referring to the nuked troll JohnCena.

You still can’t find any posts from the 2016 election where you said he’d win. Gotcha.

My bad, I linked to the wrong
quote. Why would I melt down
on election night if I wasn't a
big Trump supporter and thought
Hillary would win. You would never'
say this unless you knew I
supported Trump:

I'm looking forward to EvenBob's inevitable election night meltdown.

Uh... of course I knew you supported him.

Once again, supporting someone doesn’t equal thinking they’ll actually win.

It seems like one VP, four governors or ex-governors, nine senators, and some odd assortment I am leaving off congressmen.

  1. Joe Biden, Vice President of the United States 2009–2017;
  2. Jay Inslee, Governor of Washington since 2013
  3. Steve Bullock, Governor of Montana since 2013
  4. John Hickenlooper, Governor of Colorado 2011–2019
  5. Terry McAuliffe, Governor of Virginia 2014–2018
    ...
  6. Kamala Harris, U.S. Senator from California since 2017
  7. Elizabeth Warren, U.S. Senator from Massachusetts since 2013
  8. Cory Booker, U.S. Senator from New Jersey since 2013
  9. Jeff Merkley, U.S. Senator from Oregon since 2009
  10. Kirsten Gillibrand, U.S. Senator from New York since 2009
  11. Sherrod Brown, U.S. Senator from Ohio since 2007
  12. Bob Casey Jr., U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania since 2007
  13. Amy Klobuchar, U.S. Senator from Minnesota since 2007
  14. Bernie Sanders, U.S. Senator from Vermont since 2007
    ....
  15. Michael Bloomberg, Mayor of New York City 2002–2013
  16. Julian Castro, U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development 2014–2017

It differs from the Republican presidential primary of 2016 largely by the number of governors and ex-governors running

  1. Governor Jeb Bush of Florida,
  2. Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey,
  3. Governor Scott Walker of Wisconsin.
  4. Governor Jim Gilmore of Virginia,
  5. Governor Mike Huckabee of Arkansas,
  6. Governor Bobby Jindal of Louisiana,
  7. Governor John Kasich of Ohio,
  8. Governor George Pataki of New York,
  9. Governor Rick Perry of Texas,
    ....
  10. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas
  11. Senator Marco Rubio of Florida,
  12. Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky,
  13. Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina,
  14. Senator Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania,
    ...
  15. Carly Fiorina of Virginia,
  16. Ben Carson of Florida,
  17. Donald Trump of New York

This was the largest presidential primary field for any political party in American history.

would I melt down on election night.
I thought he would win and you knew

Historically Dems have liked Senators and the GOP governors. It follows as Dems like to talk while GOP voters prefer results. In the Senate you can talk and talk but rarely take a position. Obama and Hillary made carers of doing just that. Obama voted "present" often, and Hillary had so many positions over the years even she could not remember them all.

Modern tech means we will probably have larger fields the rest of our lives. Old way was you networked and tapped a smaller field of larger money. This got honed and honed until 2000 when we had each side basically anoint one person and let a couple others in just for appearance. But the "other" never had a chance. Today a candidate has many more ways to get exposure and money to make some kind of go of it.

Expect the Dem primary to be a bunch of talk of who is "more minority," who hates Trump more, and who can have the most socialist giveaways. Promises of "free college" and "free health care" might be just the beginning. With "the rich" paying for it all of course.
The President is a fink.

Ah, I don’t know.... maybe because I thought HILLARY WAS GONNA BE PRESIDENT and you hate her with a fiery passion? I thought that was gonna trigger a melt down.

Summary... Like most political prognosticators, both EB and ams have made their share of mistakes in recent predictions. Me too. I remember thinking no way the US elects a black man with little traditional Presidential 'credentials' when Obama first ran. I also remember thinking no way the US elects a guy like Trump with all his baggage.

That being said, I'm still trying to find someone who will let me take whatever Democrat is nominated over Trump in a bet for 2020. The more I think about it, I think Beto gives the Dems Texas, and that would be game over this cycle....
