Ultimately it only took one person to bring the infection into the home. If they were still allowing family visits, such a superspreader was inevitable.

So you still want to keep your seniors in jail? How many more years do your propose, when they have very few left. If you asked most of them they would sooner see their families and die rather than not see their families and die soon anyway. The idea of locking your mother up because you don't want to face her death and hence your own morality is a very selfish thing to do.
If you knew my domestic circumstances, you would know the absurdity of that statement.
I actually agree that family visits should be permitted to old folks homes, but that every practical mitigation should be applied.
That home has testing twice per week. In my opinion that's not enough.

As you would like to tell us about climate change and numerous other things, Trust the Scientists. Of course since you don't agree on this particular thing that doesn't apply. We are all the same OD we want to be able to think what we want.

They're usually understaffed here, which means lots of cross contamination because staffers contact many during the day. Even if private rooms are wanted, there's often little available. Just the poor persons home is way expensive. One of my family members had total care at home, his own 24hr nurses and all the necessary equipment, fancy hospital bed. I have no idea what it cost, probably many gold bars, He lasted about 4 months like that.

I'll grant you, this is interesting. Off to try to identify a politically unbiased analysis of it. That site sure wasn't unbiased.

The quoted site has this quote "In a sane world, this new development would prompt an immediate halt to the jabs and a reevaluation of the protocols being put into place by the government. "

It's almost as though they are asserting that the vaccine is the cause of the virus. Stop vaccinating and the virus will subside.

It must surely be more nuanced.

Well here is a source of what the Gib government are proposing. It also quotes some recent stats.
https://www.gibraltar.gov.gi/press-releases/rise-in-active-covid-19-cases-public-urged-to-be-cautious-and-reduce-mixing-8452021-7433

"It is important, in the above context, to limit mixing as much as possible. Public Health Gibraltar has identified that since 2nd October, a number of organised events have had adult positive cases associated with them. In addition to this, there have been separate community outbreaks related to different faith gatherings. This week it is also clear from the data that there has been a great increase of transmission in the workplace."

So....... Maybe, just maybe It's religious observance and office based working that should be demonised?

So. Acknowledgement that cases are rising.... Isn't that true most countries? Certainly true for most of Europe.

They have a population of 33.7K and 359 active cases of COVID-19 . Let's call it 1 in 1000. currently infected. They currently have 5 hospitalisations. FIVE!
They have had ONE death since September and 98 deaths TOTAL, since the start of the pandemic!

These are surely the least strong stats on which to base an anti-vax message. Laughable how it's described as the most vaccinated nation on Earth!
They are certainly one of the most infection aware, second only to Denmark, they have conducted an average of 12 tests per person. Which compares to 2 for the USA and 5 for the UK.

So, they are The Most Vaccinated and The Second Most Tested. Is it any surprise that their government is putting out messages with a cautious slant?

The island is about 2.5 square miles

Two-thirds of Americans said they plan to celebrate this Thanksgiving with the same number of people they did before the pandemic, up from 46 percent last November

Quote:
Among those who host people outside their households, 64 percent reported that they will not ask whether their guests have been vaccinated, and just 27 percent said they would require it. Sixty percent of those visiting someone’s home said it does not matter to them whether other guests are vaccinated, and just 23 percent will ask the vaccination status of other attendees.

My dad comes from a huge catholic family, he’s one of 11.

Back to normal this year - everyone is getting together for our usual Xmas celebration. With all the grandkids and great grandkids, it’s A LOT of people under one roof.

It was a genuine question.
We are all covid fatigued, left and right, vaxxed and non-vaxxed
Some of the vaxxed will feel liberated to take the risk of getting ill, but hopefully not dying. Some of the unvaxxed already feel liberated. We will probably get social mixing of vaxxed and unvaxxed and greater infection in both groups, with more serious cases in the unvaxxed. Interesting what might show in the December stats.

My shrug emoji was a genuine answer.

Could indeed be a recipe for disaster. Maybe not. I don’t know.
