I still do not get if the Democrats hate the filibuster so much why did they not get rid of it before the most recent election?

They only hate it when they can't use it or when it slows their radical progressive agenda.

It needs 60 votes to pass in the Senate.

Incorrect, it's called Reconciliation.
Dems have the power to do it all by themselves & avoid a shutdown.
That is why no one is talking about fillibuster.
Or the Dems could offer a funding band aid bill and not ask for a mammoth debt raise.
They need the huge debt raise to fund Socialism.
The GOP has said they will go along with a funding bill for expenditures already authorized.
If Dems want to raise the debt ceiling to the level required to fund the "paid for" $3.5T Socialist Agenda
There going to do it on themselves and own it all.

Honestly, if the result of Mitch’s debt ceiling antics (denying cloture aka requiring 60 votes) is forcing the Dems to nuke the filibuster: bring it on!!

I don’t think we would look to you for help with your terrible predictions and awful read of what is always going on.

This isn't a prediction, this is the fact that the Fillibuster doesn't apply in this case.
Your wrong, Rx is wrong, but nice deflection.
Keep making stuff up, it is what you are good at, see below.

Jcw will never admit it, but he’s dead wrong. So sweet.

And dealing with the debt limit? Yes, the Republican refusal to cooperate with what should be a routine matter is terrible. As the out-party, the GOP is within its rights to force Democrats to come up with the votes to raise or suspend the debt limit. But only if it can be done by a simple majority. As Bloomberg’s Steven Dennis said on Twitter Monday: “Dems don’t need Republicans to actually raise the debt limit. They just need them not to actively *filibuster* it.” Instead, by filibustering the bill to raise the debt limit, Senate Republicans are making Democrats act as a majority but at the same time preventing that majority from functioning by requiring 60 votes for passage.

Just as I feared. Some (Many) Americans do not understand the process or where the fillibuster fits in, nor how the responsibility should land. Nor indeed how slim the fractured Dem majority is. Some 70M GOP voters are going to rage at the Dems, rather than the obstructive GOP. A good chunk of Dem voters will see the SHTF in their pockets and also blame the incumbant Dems. American financial credibility will be smashed on the rocks and the blame will be assigned to the Dems.

The GOP will watch Biden's administration take the flack while America burns and the stage will be set.

You read it here. Limey predicts... Feel free to quote me just after it happens. I'll be delighted to be wrong.

"A somewhat larger crack, and what’s probably the most likely method, would be if Democrats pass the debt limit increase as a stand-alone additional reconciliation bill, which would be the second one for the budget year." AMS Article linked above

To admit I was wrong, I actually need to be wrong.
See below for an example of something actually being wrong.

One question, if you're right, why are the financial markets not in a sheer panic right now?
The Dems will pass a Reconciliation Bill without a single GOP vote, because they can under Reconciliation rules.
And they can own the financial calamity that comes if they pass that $3.5T Socialist Agenda bill.
Transitory Inflation? Not if they get that bill past Manchin & Sinema. I don't think they will (that's a prediction AMS).
What will be classic is if the BiPartisan Infrastructure Bill is a casualty of the process, that would be phenomenal for the GOP.
