A Walgreens executive said this week that the company, which cited “organized” shoplifting as a reason to close five stores in San Francisco in October 2021, might have overstated the effect of theft on its business.

“Maybe we cried too much last year,” James Kehoe, the company’s chief financial officer, said during a Walgreens earnings call with investors.

Mr. Kehoe also said that the company had “probably” spent too much on security measures and that it might have mischaracterized how much theft took place in its stores.

It was a remarkable admission, retail experts said. Walgreens and other retailers have in recent years complained about an increase in shoplifting, inflaming political debates about crime.

Saw a report today, stating 4 other reasons stores closing in downtown areas, 1) online shopping, 2)remote work,3)high rents 4) over expansion

You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?

The company I work for has an office in the SF area.

They are closing it down.

Crime? Nah. High rent and a terrible commute. No one wants to drive to work. Takes like three hours each way for a lot of them to even get to it.

Yes, but it still makes it overexpansion. One example given was all the stores CVS is closing. Many not in downtown areas. Some 300 stores through 2024. Of course it is financially impossible, but none of the lefties ever admitted the democrats use it to bait black voters and keep them from straying off the plantation. This isn't the last of it. The only qualification is entering the southern border illegally for their hardship and abuse, especially splitting families up. So can be Middle Eastern or Asian to qualify.
