As of 9/15/2023 there were 221 Republican members. One was tossed from office. Three have stood for a vote in the House in this process. One is supposed to be voted on today. I doubt he'll get the number on the first go round, if at all. That leaves...216 others. There could be one more late next month if the seat a Republican resigned from stays in the "R" column. More and more chatter about going back to McCarthy. Who knows? Every day they don't elect a speaker favors the Democrats. |
