Big Lebowski came out 20 yrs ago
One of my all time favorite movies
This is the reason I ignore EB posting bad reviews of movies he has not seen.
The Big Lebowski got terrible reviews and did not do good initial business
Yet its a masterpeice
Dont diss a movie till you see it
Yea, well, you know, thats, like. Your opinion man :-)

The first time I saw it I thought it was stupid, but it stuck with me. the second time I saw it, I understood.

I still think it's stupid, have yet
to finish it. I find it boring
and moronic and never understood
the cult following. But I'm not
a brain dead doper, so that might
be the explanation.

Quite a few critics have changed their tune on this movie. Some movies are like a fine wine, just need to age a bit and be reseen to be appreciated. I was like that with Goodfellas. Did not like it on 1st viewing because the gangsters were not noble like the Godfather. Grown to really appreciate Goodfellas and now love it.

Well jeez, Bob, I’m not either. But it’s okay to not like the same movie! Some we agree, some we don’t, and the sun comes up.

List of "great" movies that I didn't appreciate :

The Big Lebowski
Goodfellas
A Passage to India
Gandhi
Out of Africa
Memento

List of "great " movies I "got" but will never watch again.

Apocalypse Now
Saving Private Ryan
Schindler's List
Platoon
The Artist

I reserve the right to add to either, but that's all I think of now.

I see a pattern with 4 of those, but not the fifth.
You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?

Apocalypse Now is the only movie I intentionally saw 4 times.

Saw Apoc Now in the theater
when it came out. You had to
like it or you were not American.
Haven't been able to watch it
all since. Never saw the others
all the way through, boring
and pretentious.

The Big Lebowski
Goodfellas
A Passage to India
Gandhi
Out of Africa

Goodfellas is a guy movie, I loved
it. Out of Africa is a chick flick,
the others put me to sleep.

Just saw Hunger Games. I was mildly surprised that overall I enjoyed it. A bit too long but I did enjoy it.

I don't think I was able to sit thru Out of Africa. Isak Dennison was a strange writer always dealing with fate and I have my doubts as to her meriting the reputation she had for courage during the German occupation.

Saving Private Ryan... all those clean uniforms and clean rifles. Couldn't finish it at all.
And it was a no big deal situation. What about all those brothers who died on the same battle ship and then their mother was forced to go on war bond drives.
