Under the Dome on CBS?

I never saw that one, but I caught the previews and a few promos. Based on that, The Simpsons Movie looked a lot better.

Despite being a Stephen King fan, I never got into that show.

She hasn't been in very many shows.

Just saw Game Night. As a fan of classic board games and the movie starring to actors from Friday Night Lights (the TV series), it was hard to say no. Plus, nothing else looked better.

I'm tough to please with comedies but this one was darn good. The closest movie I could compare it to would be Vegas Vacation but Game Night is better. Definitely a fun kind of "date night" movie.

This movie was hilarious. A lot of comedies are funny for the first 30 min and then fall off. This movie was funny throughout the entirety. I highly recommend it.

Caculated by estimated number of tickets sold, Black Panther has now reached #40 of all time domestic movies.

Estimated tickets sold - movie - studio -domestic box office - year
76,881,200 Marvel's The Avengers BV $623,357,910 2012
74,463,500 The Dark Knight WB $534,858,444 2008
69,484,700 Spider-Man Sony $403,706,375 2002
68,727,300 Black Panther BV $630,916,236 2018 (n Release: 38 days, but sold 2.8 million tickets in the last week)

But movies are ranked by domestic box office revenue without taking into account the rise in ticket prices. By that account Black Panther has now passed Spider Man (2002), The Dark Knight (2008) and The Avengers (2012) to become the highest grossing superhero movie of all time.

Under the Dome was an atrocious TV show.

I LOVED the book, but they neutered it to put it on CBS.

My sense is that movies are getting slapped onto pay per view much faster than before. I suspect the shorter time in the theater cuts the opportunity for box office sales, but raises the total take.

Speaking of missing films, what happened to “Isle of Dogs”? I was seeing trailers for this stop action animated feature for months, but no screens are carrying it. It was supposed to open on March 23.

It only opened in 27 theaters across the country, but the critical reviews have been excellent. If you are expecting really good reviews, you open in a limited number of theaters before you do your wide release.

Normally, those kind of movies are not animated, but this one seems to be an exception.

“Pacific Rim: Uprising “ - I am a big fan of the first Pacific Rim, as I have enjoyed giant robot vs. monster films since the birth of color television. I was disappointed when Guillermo del Toro bowed out of directing the sequel. His clear sense for the audience’s experience, and his vision of a world where giant monsters and giant robots battle are what set his film apart from the likes of “Power Rangers” or “Transformers”. As a big action film, PR:Uprising is fun, with a big fight climax, but the story has been “China Optimized”. Main characters speak Mandarin, most of the film is set in China, and the stage was set for a little girl to lead the next installment of the franchise. I cried a little on the inside as this film made it abundantly clear that the US is now a secondary market for action films.

I give it 6 drones out of 10.

Pacific Rim Release Date: July 12, 2013 had a Production Budget: $190 million. It earned $100 million in the US and Canada, and $111 million in China and $200 million in other foreign markets. Are you shocked that the sequel would try and appeal to China?

Not every film makes an overwhelming amount of it's box office overseas.

The Dark Knight made 53.2% domestic and 46.8% foreign.
Black Panther made 51.0% domestic and 49.0% foreign.
Wonder Woman made 50.2% domestic and 49.8% foreign.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story 50.4% domestic and 49.6% foreign.
Spider-Man made 49.1% domestic and 50.9% foreign.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi 46.5% domestic, and 53.5% foreign.
Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace 46.2% domestic and 53.8% foreign.
