What Movies Have You Seen Lately?

Check the thread title :-)

So every single post in this thread is someone stating what movieS they have seen lately? Nobody has commented on the movieS? nobody has expressed an opinion on an actor/actress therein? By your logic - every single post in this thread MUST ONLY contain the name of movieS (not just one movie, but MOVIES) people have seen lately

It's not her weight, she's disgusting as
a person. It even shows in her acting.

I didn't see Trainwreck, but I really like Bill Hader

I finally saw Mrs. Maisels boobs, wowzers. Very enjoyable comedic series. I liked the depiction of Lenny Bruce.

The only complaint for me was the way
overused F word. I was around in 58
and never heard it. I looked it up and
historians say it was never used by women,
and never used when women were
around. It was very bad manners to use
it in public, and was heard mostly
in poorer neighborhoods and in the
military.

They use it a lot in the 2nd season, way way
too much. Women saying it in public, to
men and to each other. Just didn't happen
in middle class society.

I agree about the over use of the bomb. It add's nothing to the show.

IMO, it sounds worse coming from women than it does from sailors or construction workers. Sometimes in real life when I hear women using it [seldom] it seems like they are trying to show off? With some men it is an adverb used so often, they don't even realize it.

In season 2, the Munchkin woman
uses it in every sentence to
everybody. No way that would have
been tolerated. People were very
aware of manners in 1958, nobody
would deal with a woman who
embarrassed herself like that.

I've never heard my wife use it
or anybody in her family. I use
it all the time with my brother
or when I'm alone. When I was
dating, if the girl used it I was
done with her. It meant she was
uneducated and poorly trained.

I don't believe I heard a man say f in public until 1972 or so. The Godfather. Shocking. Probably after college before I heard a woman say it. I still find it shocking to hear a woman use that language, but the men used it fairly often under stress/ATCing.

I saw The Dressmaker today on Prime. Not even close to what I expected, in a good way. It's set in 1953, with some flashbacks, in rural Australia. Kate Winslet, Judy Davis, Liam Hemsworth, Hugo Weaving, and a lot of character actors. It's an intense study of anger, good, evil, insanity, and guilt without being too heavy. It has its comedic moments, but it draws you in nicely, then gets very dark in an interesting way.

I would give it 7 needles out of 10. 1:44 run time, needs to be seen uninterrupted. I also would suggest closed captioning - everyone speaks in natural Australian accents, and some of the spoken words are implied rather than heard.

I need CC often. I only remember seeing CC in yellow one time. It was so much easier to see. I wish it wasn't always in white, it makes it so much harder to see.

I first heard it in 1966. People don't believe
there was a time when you couldn't use
whatever foul language you wanted. The
first time I heard it in a movie was in 1970
in the movie MASH. In the next few
years you could barely see a movie without
hearing it.

But in 1958? No. People who swear in public
sound like morons and usually are. When I
had the cab co, some of the black drivers,
you'd think it was the only word they knew.
It was a verb, noun, adjective, it covered the
gamut..
