Bakelite, the first fully synthetic thermoset, was already 60 years old by the time this movie came out, and plastics were widespread for decades post WWII..

It seems like everything was made
from plastic in the 50's. Most of
my toys were plastic, radios and
TV's, hula hoops, dolls, look thru
any 50's Xmas catalog, it's all
plastic. I remember thinking
when I heard that line in 1967,
why? Plastic was an old thing,
nothing new there.

I watched Bohemian Rhapsody last night -- somewhat by the numbers movie but Rami Malek transforms into Freddie Mercury in much the same way Jamie Foxx transformed into Ray Charles in his Oscar-winning performance - what a great performance by Malek

Godzilla, 2014. It was pouring rain in
every single outdoor scene in NYC.
It poured rain for days. Very depressing,
nothing but umbrellas all the time.
It must have cost a huge amount to
produce that much fake rain for
every scene, and the actors must have
hated being wet all the time.

Any movie saves a lot on special effects if they shoot the scene at night. I imagine it is even easier in the rain.

The (God awful) 1998 Godzilla takes place in NYC. Is that what you’re talking about?

The 2014 one takes place on the west coast, mainly San Francisco.

Godawfulzilla - good name for parody.
You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?

It NYC, I thought Matthew Brodrick looked
awful young for 2014. And they had cell
phones with pullup antennas.

I remember those toys--many were molded with a famous expression of the time, "Made in Japan."

They were easily broken being made of polystyrene, which is a very brittle plastic.

The advice given to Benjamin surely wasn't about the plastic used for those toys.

In 1967 plastic was hardly used in
cars. It got so strong by the 80's
it was showing up everywhere in
cars, and appliances. So it was
pretty good advice.

Keeping in mind that I was born in 1965, many of my early toys were made of wood. However, by 1975, I would say the name of the game was plastic.

That barn by Fisher Price is probably a good indication. I had both a wood and a plastic one.
