Clearly wind power generation wasn't the only thing that failed due to the cold.

What do utilities have to do with taxes?

You're right.

However, the only prep scenario conservatives embrace seems to be collapse of civilization. And that doesn't require taxation.

Clearly, but the fact that Texans who are sitting on a century's worth of natural gas are huddling in their cars so they don't freeze in their houses is epitomized by all the wind farms in Texas screeching to a standstill during a storm when all the rate payers need their electricity the most.

Windfarms are anything but clean energy, they don't pay for themselves, wouldn't spin without taxpayer support, ruin the sky while decimating bird and raptor populations, why have them? Especially when the US has two hundred years worth of Natural gas.

Surely, management failed. "Leaders" failed, and none will be let go.

The drawbacks of wind power have little to do with the current disaster. ERCOT has 29GW generation capacity from renewables, mostly wind, during the summer when Texas sees peak demands. A drop out in wind capacity during winter surges is built in. The winter capacity forecast included only 6GW from renewables. They are currently getting 11.

Do the wind farms have back up natural gas generators to carry them over when they aren't generating? That is how the ones in California work. Of course if the gas is down that doesn't help.

I know wind farms in Denmark have no problem operating in freezing conditions

My understanding is they have "peaker plants" that kick in when needed. Gas/coal/whatever fuels them.

Ted Cruz is supposed to quarantine after travelling to Mexico. Instead he did a photo op giving out water

You need to tune out "Doomsday Preppers" and tune in "The Survival Podcast." While there are some EOTWAWKI people most preppers were prepping for what we had last March, or for a blizzard, or a water main break, etc.

is that true? Texas has a mandatory quarantine after travel to Mexico? If that is actually the case, I would be all for Ted Cruz's expulsion from the Senate. Him going to Mexico was just bad optics. Since terapined said he is supposed to quarantine, I am sure it must be a law. Wow, Ted Cruz is a law breaker!
