No central fire alarm for the building. Restricted egress due to renovations. Exterior cladding caught fire on lower floor and fire travelled upwards rapidly. Exterior cladding that burned so vigorously had been applied solely to shroud the poor-people filled eyesore from people in the upscale neighborhood. |

Instead, I'll point out:
Manufacturing jobs there, possibly with or without union support (there may be unions that the other manufacturers, but apparently they don't pay as well as the ge union jobs), and even at a rate $2/hr higher than the $15/hr minimum wage that is occasionally proposed, isn't enough to support a family. Not really, since when he took credit it was because of direct action on his part, but feel free if you like.
GE Workers are probably making a higher value product that allows higher wages. The minimum wage is a meaningless, nominal number. Raise it and everything else will go up to deal with the increase. To "support a family" one has to get skills that justify a higher wage. The President is a fink. |
