That suggests that the boat might have submerged to the bottom intentionally to play possum and then couldn’t surface again; or it might have had some mechanical problem or unseen damage.

Although I always thought subs were cool as a kid, the idea of getting stuck underwater and dying is not one of my favorites for kicking off.

Not necessarily your kids but if nobody has kids (or immigrants to the country) then your country ends when the last person dies. The working portion of the population has to care for the not working portion of the population. Even if you have all the money you need who are you going hire? Who is going to serve you at the store? Who is going to pay you at the casino?
