It's a racial issue if you're black. They are totally aware of Cosby's race, where most whites don't really think about Cosby that way. I remember him for his comedy and his Jello and Coke commercials.. He made dozens of these over the years and made dozens of millions doing it. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

I can't speak for the black side of this, but I have never known own black person to even talk about Cosby before the accusations started to fly. Let's keep in mind that I lived in or near Woodlawn Maryland for ten years. In my own opinion, Cosby seemed to go for a white audience. Now that I think about, when I was in training for my job at Social Security I said a negative thing about the Cosby Show and a black woman in my class got rather defensive about it. That is the only connection I can think of.

That's what I mean. Whites didn't think about Cosby's race, but his fellow Blacks were totally aware of it and proud of him. He came from real poverty, his mom did other peoples laundry and he shared a bed with 4 siblings. And he made himself a millionaire and a worldwide household name on talent alone. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Not really. He wrote his own comedy routines that made him a star. His mega talent is what propelled him. He had an uncanny ability to make people like him, and we did. America loved the Cos.. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Evenbob Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 146 Posts: 25011 | I just read some articles on why men do date rape, which Cosby did. Using a drug to subdue a woman and then forcing sex on them without their consent. Men who do this never consider themselves rapists. They often blame the woman for 'turning them on' and forcing them to do it. This might be Cosby. Unpopular with the girls he liked in high school, and overly narcissistic. They carry a grudge, and when successful and more powerful in their carreer, they act out their hostility from all the rejection, by using date rape. Cosby had fame and money, he could do date rape on steroids. They never look at it as being wrong or even their fault. It's something that really arouses them, getting back at all the women that rejected them. They become addicted to it, which Cosby obviously was. There has to be an underlying reason, having sex with a comatose woman sounds not appealing at all. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

I was under the impression that Cosby wanted his audience to be color blind. I Spy (September 15, 1965 – April 15, 1968) broke ground in that it was the first American television drama to feature a black actor (Cosby) in a lead role. Robert Culp revealed in his audio commentary on the DVD release that he and Cosby agreed early on that "Our statement is a non-statement". Race was never acknowledged in the series. The population in 1960 was: 179,323,175 Total 158,831,732 White 18,871,831 Black |

I was 16 when I Spy came on and we were awed that Cosby was on it. America already knew him as a hilarious comic we all loved and to see him on TV was terrific. We had spent hours listening to his albums over and over. I really think if he had been a nobody black actor, it wouldn't have been put on the air. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

A judge is confining Bill Cosby to his suburban Philadelphia home until the comedian is sentenced on sexual assault charges. Cosby must also wear a GPS monitoring device under the order issued Friday by Judge Steven O'Neill. The judge had suggested Thursday after Cosby was convicted of three counts of aggravated indecent assault that he would be allowed to move around Montgomery County, where his home is located. The modified order says can leave his house only to meet with his lawyers or to get medical treatment but must get permission before doing so. If you take a risk, you may lose.
