This Michigan study published in The Lancet in March 2021, might be the source for those Michigan statistics.

"Among the 6,065 COVID-19 related deaths in Michigan, Black individuals are experiencing 3·6 times the mortality rate of White individuals (p<0.001), with a mortality rate for Black individuals under 65 years without comorbidities that is 12·6 times that of their White counterparts (p<0.001). After accounting for age, race, sex, and number of comorbidities, we find that Black individuals in all strata are at higher risk of COVID-19 mortality than their White counterparts."

You do know that the recovery rate for covid is 99%, right? Why do you people act like the recovery rate is like 20%. If you get covid even if you are not vaccinated there's a 99% chance you won't die. Even if you're over 75 the recovery rate is like 98%. All the people in my wife's family in the last two months that got covid were all vaccinated. My son-in-law just got covid this week from the college classes he teaches and he's been like double or triple vaccinated. He's so sick he might be going to the hospital. Good work, vaccinations. Based on your anecdotes, I refuse to believe that there is anyone left living in your wife’s family to even be able to contract Covid at this point.

What a rough year they’ve all had!

I was just reading the independent research was in Florida are having fantastic results using to over the counter drugs to treat covid. One is an antihistamine and the other one is a lactic acid drug from cow milk that treats ulcers. Mixing these two drugs together have a huge effect on all SARS viruses including covid. In studies on monkeys and humans it stops the virus from replicating itself 99%. I'm sure this will be the last we hear of this because big Pharma will buy them off and bury the research. They can make no money off of over-the-counter drugs and that's all they are there for is to make money. They could give a rip if we get better or not. They have no desire for covid to go away, where's the profit in that.

What do fellow Americans want their leaders to do? Force other Americans to be as scared of Covid as they are?
Haven't we proven that neither Trump nor Biden can do anything that materially impacts deaths?
More people have died under Biden than Trump & we rolled out a vaccine when Biden got inaugurated.
It isn't Biden's fault. No government or politician or Fauchi can stop the spread of Covid without Draconian Martial Law.
That is not going to happen in the land of the free & home of the brave.
We aren't Austrailia, New Zealand or Canada for God's sake!
People are going to get infected, everyone is going to get infected.
Either the vaccine or natural immune response is going to work once you are infected.
Or perhaps a therapeutic will help you if you are in the small % that gets hospitalized.
And then you die or you recover.
Time to move on and every individual gets to decide what moving on looks like. If you are scared, stay home.
The rest of us will be living our lives in public with or without masks depending on circumstances and personal choice.
Come out of your bunker if you dare. But I recommend a side arm, preferably 9mm. There are some crazies out here.

Your own anecdotal evidence leads us to <98% survival rate. How many in that car? And you completely dismiss long covid and the non-trivial illness that an infected person might suffer..
I do not over estimate the overall death or hospitalisation rate. But i also see hospitals so full that stroke victims and cancer patients cannot get treatment.

Nor do I expect vaccines to be particularly effective. They're one tool at our disposal. Social distancing and all that entails were a pretty effective tool. FREE and frequent test and trace, yet another. Neither of our countries has all its ducks in a row. We can but try. Or not.

Well, I would get yourself a nice 6" fixed blade and practice "situational awareness" when out in Covid Country.

Mostly stabbings? Yes. That's true. Can't say I've any knowledge or experience of anyone I know getting bombed. Or stabbed for that matter. We sheeples don't do violent crime very well over here. :)
Remind me again, who is it going to attack me? Who/what is it I'm supposed to fear? Certainly not covid. I respect it. I avoid it. I don't fear it.

LOL. We live in different worlds.
I don't live on Sloane street. Typical crimewave where I live is when someone lets her dog crap on the sidewalk and doesn't pick it ALL up. BLM riots came here? I must have been in my bunker. Never heard a thing. I recall there was a shouty lady panic buying toilet rolls once in 2020. $;o)
