This is Democrats making yet another fight they are going to lose and going to look bad in. Same as Schumer demanding a payoff to allow votes on Trump nominees. They seem to think it is the 80s when the left had all of the media locked up.

Yeah, no. It’s like me disagreeing with a Republican Rep that I’m not voting for martters

We all know you would vote Castro(D) but we are not talking about mind numbed robots like yourself. We are talking about average people and public opinion, which Democrats will lose big in Texas.

Wow, I just listened to a detailed explanation by a nonpartisan constitutional attorney who said that what Obama and Hillary and their minions tried to pull with the Russia hoax is a clear cut attempt at a bloodless coup d'etat. They willingly and purposefully tried to get rid of the duly elected next president. He said nothing like this has ever happened in our history and that statute of limitations on a lot of the stuff has just started. Statute of limitations on some things apparently starts with when the evidence is found, not when the actual crime was committed. The hilarious thing is if this had been a Republican president doing this to a Democrat, they'd be lying in the streets of Washington DC rolling around peeing their pants screaming their heads off. But because it's a Democrat that did it all the libbies are saying yawn, old news, who cares, right wing conspiracy, nothing to see here.
emphasis above is mine.

From what I understand that is not quite right.

This article provides a good explanation. It just talks about a couple people but I expect it also applies to many others that were involved.

Ron DeSantis proves again why he is the best governor

Quote:
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and the state’s top financial officer appear to want to send a new message for agencies they believe are wasting taxpayer dollars: “F--- Around and Find Out.” Of course, they do not want to put it that way.

Both the governor and Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia embraced a new name for the state’s Department of Government Efficiency, known more familiarly as DOGE.

On Monday, Ingoglia posted the state agency, whose name once mirrored the Elon Musk-led effort for the Trump Administration, would be unofficially renamed the Florida Agency for Fiscal Oversight, or FAFO. A graphic he shared indicated the Florida CFO introduced the name during a GOP weekend event and got “a rave reception.”

DeSantis also reacted positively. The governor posted that “Florida Agency for Fiscal Oversight has a nice ring to it,” and said he might consider issuing an executive order to change the name.

Comparing it to the Constitution,

Few people realize, but the POTUS can either call Congress to session or send them home. Last I remember this might have been considered would be the Gulf War when they might have been home for summer recess. But POTUS can do that. Now, a member misses a flight and is late that would be one thing. But if Trump called Congress to session and Democrats refused to show up at the least there would be a probable constitutional crisis.

This is Democrats making yet another fight they are going to lose and going to look bad in. Same as Schumer demanding a payoff to allow votes on Trump nominees. They seem to think it is the 80s when the left had all of the media locked up.

Texas law and Texas Constitution isn't the US Constitution.

This article explains it well. https://www.texastribune.org/2025/08/04/texas-democrats-house-warrants-arrest-quorum-break/

I support any legal effort, both fair and unfair, to prevent legislation being passed

I’m glad it is a crime of some sort. They are taking public money to do a job. They can vote against any proposed bill they don’t like. They can speak against any bill they don’t like. They can campaign on the fact they voted against these bills.

I did not vote for a state assemblyman/Senator/representative to run away when there is a tough vote. Vote how you see fit, and let the Democratic process play out.

Looks like by law the governor can fine each missing member $500 a day. I hope there is a way to make sure the criminal representatives pay it themselves rather than have billionaires like Oprah pay the fines.

Final thought….. Can you imagine if they were asked this question on the campaign trail….. how they would have lied….

‘If there is a bill you are against, will you vote against it, or run away from Texas in the hope that the majority in favor of it don’t get to vote for it?’

It isn't a crime, but thanks for playing!
