Easiest question ever. We have a convicted felon as President because he was nominated by a wide majority of Republicans. And when his candidacy was placed before the general public, the citizens gave him a large electoral college victory. To dig deeper, we have a convicted felon as President because almost 90% of our local counties did not want any more Democrat party rule after seeing what that means. By the way, SOOPOO was wrong on the result of the election. I predicted a Harris win factoring in Trump’s convictions. But the Democrats are so bad it overshadowed Trump being a bad man. |

And people voted for these reps who left the state. And as far as I know they're happy with what they're doing. Either get a different standard or stop complaining about these dems. "Trumpsplain (def.) explaining absolute nonsense said by TRUMP. |

My argument is the same. The Oregon legislators should have been punished as much as legally possible. As I’ve mentioned, they are paid to write bills, and vote on bills others wrote. They are not paid to go and hide. Can you name me another job where you can have a hissy fit, not go to work, and face no repercussions? |

I don’t think I’ve said they should be removed from office (yet!). But seriously, let’s say one of the just decided on day one of his term to not show up. You think it’s ok for him to face no repercussions by saying ‘but I was voted in’? And stay in power WITH SALARY for the two years of their term? My standard is clear. Within reason, be available to vote yea or nay on all legislation. Never do anything to prevent your house/assembly/senate from voting on a matter before them. Is that so hard? |

| rxwine Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 217 Posts: 22940 | Unlike SOOPOO, i vote for my politician to hopefully make the correct decision, as the situation changes even if it wasn't what I voted for. I don't vote for technocrats or robots. (until there is no other choice I suppose) "Trumpsplain (def.) explaining absolute nonsense said by TRUMP. |

If you voted for a Democrat for Congress you voted for whatever Hakeem Jeffries told your congressman to do. You are fooling yourself if you think your Democrat Congressman is anything more than a robot following the party line. The Republicans are at least dysfunctional enough to not all follow Trump or Johnson or Thune. But your overall point is valid. You are highly unlikely to find a politician that agrees with you on all matters. So of course there will be some things that he votes for that you are against. It’s usually difficult for me. I’m pro abortion rights. Pro Israel. Pro EV/wind/hydro power. Pro support of Ukraine. Pro strong border security. Anti Jan 6 insurrectionists. I can go on. There are no candidates that match my wants. |

Counties don't elect candidates, SooPoo. Voters do. |

Did you say that in 2023? Bet you didn't. As far as it known, unless provided for in the state and federal Constitutions, no legislator MUST show up and participate. They miss votes all the time. Where is the SooPoo screed about legislators not having a 100% voting record. |
