guess why I'm asking

>>>

can a tree survive lightning

Unless the tree has severely cracked or split branches/trunk, or broken hanging branches in the canopy, taking a wait-and-see attitude is recommended to determine if the tree can recover. A lightning-struck tree, even one with little apparent damage, may not survive – only time will tell
__

How do you know if a tree has been struck by lightning?

The shock waves bounce off the inside of the tree stem and cause tree tissue shifts along the stem's circumference. The most noticeable symptom of a lightning strike on a tree, other than bark damage, is leaf wilting from disrupted water transport in the stem or roots.

I agree with that finding. Just because someone DNA was found at the scene of the crime doesn't mean they committed it. It sounds like there wasn't any other evidence.
At my age a Life In Prison sentence is not much of a detrrent.

Yup, been too close to a tree when it was struck by lightning and split right down the middle. All the bark exploded off it. Fortunately, I was behind an electric sliding door which was closed at that moment. The next day or two later it was chopped down by people who chop down trees.

I think people have been wondering about harnessing all the power of lightning long before Franklin and his kite. Now if someone could capture the power of a hurricane before it hits the coast, that would be truly mythical. And mythical because that's the way it will remain. But I would never say never. People speculate about Dyson spheres, so why not? Capturing the power of a hurricane in a bottle ought to be a lot easier in at least some of the construction process.

re dyson spheres, seems to me to ever see the full theoretical application, you'd need a spare planet ... at least a dwarf one... to get all the material

some scaled down thing from that, sure

so far we havent even beamed down energy somehow from space

I'm convinced matches in general are not as good as those 30 years ago, even cigar matches, which ought to be the best of them. The safety nazis have probably done great damage, but who knows

even the boxes aren't as good, they deteriorate fast and spill out the matches. I've started using rubber bands to stop that

searching the internet finds nothing on the topic of 'not as good' when it comes to matches. Some odd stuff comes up

>>>

Why are matches better for cigars?

Matches provide a more traditional and ritualistic lighting experience for cigar enthusiasts. Matches burn at a lower temperature compared to lighters, which can help preserve the delicate flavors of the cigar
__

Does a cigar increase testosterone?

In some cases, researchers have found a positive correlation between nicotine consumption and increased testosterone levels in men. Other research, however, has not revealed any noteworthy variations or even adverse effects on hormone generation
__

What is cigar sickness?

Cigar sickness is an adverse reaction to cigar smoking that can cause nausea, headaches, nervousness, dizziness, spikes in blood pressure, and a host of other symptoms. Cigar sickness can affect each cigar smoker differently, yet the result is always the same: a very unpleasant experience.

following crime stuff as I do, it really bothers me when a death is ruled as a suicide and there are reasons to believe otherwise.

I flipped to forensic files show last night and there was a really bizarre crime. A couple with no criminal history commits thrill crimes of burglary. Not enough thrills so they meet another couple at a club, are friendly enough that the other couple on vacation at a beach area go back to the condo. They kill the other couple just for hell of it, and later the guy is in the hot tub with the two decapitated heads floating in it.

I hope I never find a dead body under the mattress at a hotel, because I'm going to give housekeeping a really bad rating.

those are the kind of stories that make me want to keep the death penalty

the criteria should be whether "no possibility of recidivism" is unquestionably called for, which only the D. Penalty gives. Life without possible parole is otherwise just as good, maybe better

13% increase in free testosterone, and a 38% reduction in sperm count

The increase in free testosterone may be intended by the body to help compensate for loss of muscle mass.
