I can discuss NY. Just looked it up. Minimum wage now $16 an hour. So a ‘$5 footlong’ from 2019 is an $8 footlong now. As far as ‘proving’ you wrong, I can’t ‘prove’ it. I can, however, use common sense. That the added cost of the 7 Subway sandwich makers is an extra $42 an hour, that Subway tries to make up by….. RAISING PRICES. Sometimes, as with my nearest Subway shop, the MARKET does not allow for enough sales at the higher prices. So the store CLOSED. And those jobs that the kid wanted? Gone!

That’s proof enough. I’m guessing rather than trying to really understand, which in this case is REALLY simple, you’ll try and obfuscate with more questions.

Go to Costco and buy a 1.50 hot dog
I own their stock
It's done really well
You can pay your employees a good wage , sell a cheap hotdog and keep stock holders happy

You mean the hotdog deal that was $1 a few years back? (I may have made that up…) I’m a stockholder, too. Pretty sure it was a recommendation from BBBabs when I started WoV portfolio. Just googled it! Costco salaries in Florida are WAY below that minimum wage from NY. Around 1/2 make LESS than the NY minimum wage!!!

I just Google Costco salary Florida.

Got to ‘talent.com ‘. Says 25th percentile was $11.49. 75th percentile $18.51. I take that as 50th percentile is a tad less than the $16 an hour I mentioned for NY. Frankly, since there are executives/managers who make far more than that, my point is that the kid/old guy bagging the groceries/stocking the shelves is likely making less than NY minimum wage. AS IT SHOULD BE. NOT THE GOVERNMENT’s job to regulate wages.

Do you factor in the cost of living in both areas?
Even in FL , some areas have a high cost of living. Some areas have a lower cost of living

nobody here cares about the minimum wage for themselves, we are all beyond that

Lefties pretend to care because Labor Unions want a big minimum wage, they find that helps them

Conservatives are concerned about inflation

Conservatives are barking u the wrong tree if they think a modest or even minimal raise for the working poor is a significant cause of inflation.

I often look on with interest at your countries periodic debt ceiling deadlock and I suppose that with his new found control of both Houses, drumph will have easy authority to borrow to his hearts content from 2025 when it's next an issue. Should be interesting to see if there's much resistance to raising the ceiling next time.

I wonder how popular the repercussions of that will be? Will 'the majority' be happy if it's an easily done deal? Will the US's creditors demand much higher interest, and get it?

And inflation? How well will the administration be able to fudge the figures on that when drumph's beloved tariffs kick in? Repugs have, quite reasonably, made the economy the big issue. They have a lot to prove and four years to do it. I know that presidents have little control over inflation, but drumph's tariff proposals seem a shot in the foot, if he pushes them through.

That got me thinking. Putin presides over a Russia where official inflation is 9.8% and interest rates are 21%... And that's official rates, above and beyond the 64% rise in the price of spuds. But it doesn't knock him from power. Will my American cousins tolerate such rates under the new administration?

I'm pretty sure it wasn't a good idea to give the extreme narcissist even more recognition and power than before. So, I expect that to play out badly. Trump and his cronies will keep having to pretend climate change doesn't exist. Who knows what fakery the FDA and the EPA will suffer from under this administration. Who knows what will happen in the Justice Department including the FBI. No doubt though, we'll be safe from illegal aliens and people like Elon Musk will make more money.

If you like a country running on lies, you'll love Trump.
Trump is not a genius; you're just dumb.
