Pretty damned silly: We The People elect the legislators: why have an unnecessary "extra step" in the process?

Founders put it that way. Senate is supposed to represent the interest of the states. Gets the money out of senate races as well. If you studied the constitution maybe Chou would understand this. The constitution was set up to make things slow and indirect. A good thing.

So what?

We The People took the power away from the state legislators more than one hundred years ago; you're talking 'ancient history' with neither relevance nor application to the current situation, i.e. "That was then, this is now."

Things have changed: hello, seventeenth amendment.

Oh, wait: are you seriously advocating that the power to elect U.S. Senators should revert once again to the state legislators?

We used to get around by horse and buggy: you want THAT back as well?

Sure spike,

I love it when you call me Spike because it means I've gotten under your skin. You hate that worse than anything because you think your job here is to get under everybody else's skin. You're a self-admitted troll, that's what you live for. Everybody knows what you are and nobody takes you seriously.

Yes I am saying give it back to state legislators. I explained why. Or did you not learn to read at UAS?

No, that's the name I've seen you use for many years.

What happened spike, why'd you change your handle to EB?

I've been Mr. V since day one but not you...oh no, you had to reinvent yourself for reasons unknown.

No doubt "therein lies a tale" but please spare me the pain of reading it: it's enough to know that you are two-faced.

Oh, I read it and quickly dismissed it as the ravings of a loon.

At UAS not only did we learn to love to eat Spam: we fine tuned our BS meters as well.

I still use it on other forums. But you only use it here when I get under your skin. Why don't you just retire from this place and go bother some other forum with your trolling crap.

The only reason to return to state legislatures electing US senators is so gerrymandered politicians can go against the will of the people.

Uh, no. While I am sure blue state gerrymandered political districts would bias things somewhat my point is it would separate the Senate to being for the states with the House the people, as it was supposed to be.
