The Dow closed at 43,487.83 1/20/25 (inauguration day) and currently is at 43,661.97 as I pen this.

Adios, "Trump bump..."

Greetings, well-founded fear and pessimism.

So the market is flat over six weeks? Stop the presses!

I simply think it is worth noting that all his bombast and baloney has not elevated the stock market / American economy as he'd promised.

Form your own conclusion as to cause and effect.

Tomorrow should be a hoot...tariffs go into effect.

Stay tuned for the Continued Meltdown.

Oh, currently it is at 43,419.14, down 421.77 for the day.

Yawn.

When it goes up tomorrow should I laud Trump? The inflation under Biden/Democrats was huge. We’ll see if it is worse under Trump. Even with the tariffs I’d bet not. And of course, NO ONE ever mentions that tariffs are REVENUE to the Federal Government, either used to pay for stuff, or decrease the deficit, or collect less taxes elsewhere. And let’s not forget the shrinking Federal workforce.

Terapined, were you saying how great the market was right after the election and stock prices built in Trump instead of Harris into their calculations? Why not?

The market going up after the election was built on hope
Reality is setting in and the Trump market is tanking
Look at the financial web pages
They all blame Trumps tariffs for tanking the market
inflation will be going up
consumer confidence is down
Trump tariffs is throwing gasoline on the impending recession

WTF
It's down
He could make the market go up by killing tarriffs
Instead he is purposely tanking the market and the economy
1st President in my lifetime taking a wrecking ball to the economy on purpose
It's pretty shocking
Even more shocking is Trumpers like Soopoo cheering on Trump to do more damage to the economy
Wall Street Journal and economists are against tarriffs because they hurt the economy.
Soopoo ignores that and cheers on the tarriffs wrecking the economy and tanking the markets.
Your hate for Dems has so blinded you that you actually support policies taking a sledge hammer to the economy.
The country was better off financially when Biden was President
That's a FACT

While any President may suffer a bad run of events, Trump creates them. Trump 2.0 = no guardrails. No rational adults in the room. At least none that will open their mouths. Radical rightwing idiots.

I'm a bit negative on Trump.
Trump is not a genius; you're just dumb.

First of all, I’m as far from being a Trumper as you can be. I’m trying to remember where I said I was for the Trump tariffs? What I’ve said, and will continue to say, is tariffs, like any tax, OF COURSE add costs to the populace. That’s what a TAX does. I am NOT in favor of the sledgehammer approach Trump is using. I DO think there would have been more measured approaches to improve our ability to compete that include some tariffs.

I’m going to really dumb this down so maybe you can understand. Let’s say there is a Mexican and American widget manufacturer. The Mexican workers are happy making $5 an hour. The American workers consider themselves slaves if they are making less than $20 an hour. So it’s really hard for the American factory to compete, when you also add in the Democrat Red Tape that is an added expense here. Now with a tariff, the American plant can compete, and NOT CLOSE, saving AMERICAN jobs. Tariffs are good for AMERICAN jobs. American manufacturers.

Please tell me where you are getting the money into the federal coffers instead of the tariffs? I’ll wait…

When it comes to tarriffs, you take Trumps side and believe his propaganda over the Wall Street Journal.

And how do the business selling to Canada and Mexico, China make money with tariffs on their products going to those places.. Are you going to give them kickbacks for lost business? You know, they also have payroll to meet, and expenses to pay off.
