High prices are only a problem when Democrats are in power. Otherwise it's a positive. |

Cute. Regular $3.59 a gallon here. I’m still trying to figure out what magic trick is being used to keep it so low when it’s $5.59 in California? Where is that $2 a gallon going? War has consequences. To me, the added price of gas pales in comparison to the loss we suffer from the dozen or so young American lives lost, and hundreds of injured. I’m hoping it ends not because of my pocketbook or the economy…. |

I just paid $5.80 per gallon for premium at Chevron. Ka-Ching! Then again I am savvy enough to only use Top Tier brands of gasoline, not the cheap shit that carbons up engines: about a forty or fifty cent per gallon difference between Top Tier and non-Top Tier offerings which only dolts, cheapskates and the uninformed use regularly for cars with DGI. |

California is always significantly higher than everywhere else (even higher than Hawaii and island territories like USVI and Puerto Rico.). This is partially because of taxes (highest fuel taxes of any State/territory,) but the even bigger reason is there are regulations on the gas sold there where it has to be made at a higher standard than the rest of the country. So it's basically special gas that is just made to be shipped to California. For example whenever I visit SF, the gas prices are basically always almost exactly 2x compared to where I live (regardless of the how high or lower overall prices are in the U.S.) |

Have you ever heard of google? Also, we already told you that CA had a tremendous smog problem, that was cleaned up due to the special blend of gas they mandate, which costs $$$. https://www.eia.gov/todayinenergy/detail.php?id=65184 As a physician dedicated to public health, you do support clean air, don't you? . |

We’ve done this dance before. My air feels quite clean here in Florida. I’m not sure California is getting enough ‘clean air value’ for that extra $2 a gallon. Answering Mr. V, I don’t use regular, as my wife tells me to use mid grade and the extra few $$ a fill up are not worth arguing about! I just reported the regular gas price for consistency. You are worried about clean air? Where is your post about mandating EVs? SOOPOO tools around in an EV golf cart whenever possible! |

That's the thing about air. It can "feel" clean and not actually "be" clean. But if you know better than the scientists in the state of CA and the scientists at the DOE and EPA, I'm sure they'll take your call. Instead of a $2 premium on the price of gas, what would the eminent air quality scientist, SooPoo, MD, do to improve air quality in CA? Before you even yap, you will get no argument from me about mandating E and hybrid adoption, and increases CAFE standards. The sky didn't fall when emissions standards tightened in the 70s. The sky didn't fall when CAFE standards were increased each time, nor when catalytic converters were mandated, or when unleaded gas was mostly banned, The sky won't fall if we buy more EVs and Hybrids. |

Not really. I mean, I am mildly concerned but not worried. I save worrying for more immediate things. |
