Wait so his Dad is a cop and a Christian preacher, and a gun advocate. His mom is an active Republican (both registered Republicans,) and people are still saying he was raised in a far left house?

I don't think that guns in the house makes one a "gun nut." Gun nut is a weasel word term that gets used to make people look bad. I once had a customer had $1MM worth of collector guns in his house. Most were labeled and tagged. I mean, I have been in gun stores with fewer guns. But he was a collector, not a "nut."

College changes a lot of people, radicalizes some. Anyone remember the movie "Higher Learning?" Regular, suburban kids go off to school. One gets radicalized into the Black Panthers, one to a neo-nazi group, a girl gets tempted towards lesbianism. While a movie, it does a good job of showing how kids can fall in with a group and get their thinking changed.

Very possible this scumbag grew up a normal life then got to college. Had a bunch of left-wing professors. Heard bad things from them about Mr. Kirk, got it reinforced by other kids, then decided, "someone needs to DO something."

As far as just leftist. Don't remember Never Reagans, Never Bushes, Never Obamas, Never Clintons JUST Never Trumper. Some people might have felt that way from their respective party but not enough to coalesce into a group.

That's one of the nice things about Freedom of Speech...you know, that provision in the First Amendment to the Constitution that he hates so much; the one which protects the right to express opinions and ideas without government censorship or interference.
