"The libertarian Cato Institute notes politically motivated violence is rare in the U.S. Alex Nowrasteh, said that 3,599 people died in politically motivated attacks from 1975 through Sept. 10, 2025. Eighty-three percent of those were on 9/11, followed by the Oklahoma City Bombing with 5% of the total.

That breakdown looks like:

Islamism: 3,122
Right: 391
Left: 65
Unknown/Other: 9
Foreign nationalism: 8
Separatism: 4"
--------------------------------------------------
Even without counting Islam, the right wing is 6x more violent politically. I still hold the belief that Islamic violence is right-wing violence, making the right 60x more violent.

Selective reporting. Ignores left wing riots and damage.

Now, maybe the Charlie Kirk riots will change that a bit. So if you could point out any of them in the news that would help.

So I wasn't going to get into this issue until Trump posted something over the top, and even so it's still pretty conspiratorial.

Trump just posted "Everyone Loved Charlie" on his social media. This sounds innocuous, until you look at the photo attached to the post. It is Trump and Charlie shaking hands in front of an Israeli flag with the caption "RIP shlomo perl".

Historically, Kirk was strongly pro-Israel, and that slowly started to change in recent months, though he was still pretty supportive. However, there are rumors he was considering becoming heavily critical of Israel and was advised that his security would not be able to protect him.

Then he is shot. Now, Trump is posting photos with "shlomo perl" and the Israeli flag. Almost as if trying to make him a permanent friend of Israel.

I can't post the photo of Trump's post, but if you search it, it is easy enough to find. And, I think we may know what he means by "RIP shlomo perl..."

For the benefit of those ofus unfamiliar with the term, could you enlighten us? I have never encountered it before.

You are welcome to cite valid and reliable studies incorporating such data as you wish.

A couple points for you to chew on...

1. I assume your use of the term "riots" is mostly in reference to the troubles in the cities after the George Floyd incident and the rise of antifa and BLM: if so, please realize that the primary motivation was racial, not political, i.e. the blacks and those sympathizing with them and espousing their cause were fed up with perceived police brutality and lack of cultural awakening to accept blacks completely as equals. No doubt some of the rioters voted republican.

2. There have been no riots by the right over Kirk's death because a white Mormon shot him, not a black person.

Exactly! Can you imagine if a Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton would have been assassinated in the same manner Kirk was? How many riots would the left have started? How many billions of dollars in damage? How many deaths? We saw what happened when a petty criminal was killed by a rogue cop. The country wide violent responses to individual events are what the left does, not the right.

Baloney.

Think January 6th, and how the "stolen election" nonsense it was based on galvanized the right / MAGA.

Violence begets violence and I can't stop it, so I guess that I'll just sit back, sip coffee, and watch this once great country self-destruct in a fit of self-righteous delusion.

No it doesn't. It factors in riots and protests that cause deaths. It is a measure of deaths directly caused by political violence, riots, terrorism, assassinations, etc.... So clearly these riots did not cause hundreds of direct deaths as you claim...

Don’t have to imagine. MLK riots were so bad people stayed off the streets for days. Rodney King verdict more localized but same kind of damage.

See I’m not limiting violence to deaths, I’m counting all kinds of violence. I’m even including simple disruptions by leftists when a conservative speaker gets disrupted to canceled because a few leftists don’t want people hearing them. Sorry but the violence is from the left.

Cancellation based on vociferous opposition is not "violence" per se, sounds more like the exercise of free speech.
