I agree to some degree. I just think it’s a slap in the face to the CO’s that he picked an ex con. I’m not saying an ex con should be totally unemployable.

The COs are employees and they get paid, in part, to follow the orders of their superiors in government. If they don't like it, there are always other jobs.

All previous NYC Mayors have forced the homeless into shelters during extreme weather conditions.

Over the past two weeks we had a foot of snow followed by temperatures that went as low as 4 degrees and only briefly went above 20.

So far, eighteen people have died due to the weather and Mamdani still refuses to force the homeless into shelters.

I wouldn't force someone to save themselves even if they were already in a hospital. If someone is incompetent, they probably need to be removed permanently.

They warn people here about staying in their homes during hurricanes, but won't drag them out of their homes if they don't want to leave. Same with fire and floods elsewhere AFAIK.

People who are mentally deficient on the street should be committed regardless of weather. If somebody is reasonably intelligent and they insist to stay in their camp, that is their choice.

Lots of cities, including countless red mayors do not forcibly remove and house homeless people during storms (in fact almost no red mayors do regardless of city size.) And, I can virtually guarantee you have never spent time complaining about Mayor Billy Bob in North Dakota over a town of a couple hundred for not forcing homeless people into hotels and shelters during a storm.

You care for two reasons (lesser) because he is a Democrat, and (larger) because he is a socialist.

Don't act like you are concerned about giving homeless a choice to refuse the help. This is just a blast of Mamdani.
