I understand your point. Is someone is reasonably intelligent, then they should be allowed to decide whether or not to enter a shelter.

I think this story will have more ‘legs’ than people think. It is a PERFECT example of the need for basic ID in the real world for ‘common folk’. It’s not just the rich for their brokerage account. Or those that get employee paid for health insurance. It just shows the COMMON SENSE that ID is necessary today. And voting should be TOP of the list, not below ‘snow shoveler’.

All you need is a clearly visible badge number that goes to a database. Someone can look up the number which would refer to a city database whether you want to complain or whatever. Same with ICE, if they don't already use those. All the customer needs to know if that person is officially registered when they look them up. If you need more action, it would be the usual process, whatever that is. Including doing nothing.

For voting, you might as well submit your DNA, It's so easy to get now anyway.

Totally different things. That is if you want to work FOR the City. You are basically applying to be a city employee on a per diem basis (when there are snow emergencies.)

That is like pointing out that there are different standards to buy a gun for your house or work for the NYPD.... Totally different things....
