This is not: Ginger ganó una beca a la escuela de dramático.

Well it's not correct to use an adjective in this sentence in English either. "Ginger won a grant to dramatic school".

The school is not dramatic. It is either "dramatic arts", or a "school of drama".

The literal retranslation of the original is "Ginger won a grant to the school of dramatic." Or possibly ""... to the dramatic school."

Right. And even if seen as a generalized study, the proper term would not be "Dramatics" but rather "Hystrionics." Though of curse the term used is "Acting."

BTW Lame Monday Spanish Joke fo the Day:

P: ¿Como se llama el hermano malo de Plácido Domingo?

R: Pinche Lunes

(And here's hoping I didn't just run afoul of the new profanity standards; after all, I used the Spanish equivalent of "f******g." But the PG version of the joke is not strong enough for Monday).

Shhh. Don't tell the rest of the forum but I will fully allow profanity in Spanish, as long as it is used in some kind of educational context.

Twitter version of same joke

Is the joke in reference to this song?

Deja que salga la luna
deja que se meta el sol
deja que caiga la noche
pa' que empiece nuestro amor

I can't access Twitter at work. And videos cause this degraded XP PC to crash or seize up.

Cuando Sale la Luna is a song from Pedro Infante (circa 1956) that he sang in the movies. Placido Domingo has been singing it for over 30 years. I assumed that it was the source of the joke.

It's a play on words. "Domingo" means SUnday, as no doubt you know. So his name can mean "Pleasant" or "Placid" Sunday. His evil brother would be "Effing" Monday.
