They are a part of USA history, WWII was probably the most impactful war in the U.S. (except maybe the Civil War).

It would be like if there was a painting of Hitler from the Eagle Nest, if it was in a museum that would be fine, if a City wanted to place it in a park under the American flag that is problematic.

Confederate leaders are the same, leaders of an enemy military that should not be idolized.

Come on, you are really stretching now. MLK worked peacefully within the system to change it. He did not try to form a separatist state. He is the poster child for the proper way to advocate change.

But, yes they are part of USA history as an enemy, as such they belong in a museum with Nazis and Imperial Japan, not on pedestals (literally) under American Flags.

And, yes many Confederate Leaders served years or decades honorably in the Union Army (many have legitimately impressive military records), but they still lost the right once they commit treason. Benidict Arnold was also a great general who was a crucial leader until he was not..... Or today, Edward Snowden, great soldier (I think, records are hazy, even if discharged due to injury, but he tried the roughest training so he gets credit for that in my book) and great NSA contractor, until he was not. Same concept (much less extreme, I am not claiming Snowden caused any deaths, but same concept of treason).

The simple fact is no tax dollars should be used to idolize a treasonous movement (especially one whose main priority was racial supremacy, even though that is not even the main issue for me, I don't care if their main issue was interior waterway navigation -it was not-).

Another reason Puerto Rico needs to become a State, lots of lost Tax Revenue. If you want to evade taxes you should actually have to leave the U.S. not just move to a territory.
