That may be how a "normal" guy thinks? But these people are pros, they've kept this kind of thing and worse hidden for thousands of years.

The secrecy starts in seminary. My ex priest
friend says that if a student decides to quit,
or they want to kick him out, it's done in
the middle of the night. In the morning,
poof, he's gone and not a word is said and
the other priests are not allowed to ask.

Secrecy and skullduggery is the forte
of the Church. the largest and oldest
secret society in the world. (I'm so
glad FrG isn't here to say, Oh Bob ,
you're so wrong as usual. I got real
tired of his denial of reality.)

By secret society, I mean it's chock
full of secrets. Even it's own members
don't know what really goes on.

I was right! I said absolutely nothing would
come out the big sexual abuse Summit at
the Vatican. The Pope talked and talked and
gave no actions that would be taken to
stop priests from molesting children. It's
just business as usual..

VATICAN CITY — Pope Francis ended a landmark Vatican meeting on clerical sexual abuse by calling “for an all-out battle against the abuse of minors” and insisting that the church needed to protect children “from ravenous wolves.”

But for all the vivid language and the vow “to combat this evil that strikes at the very heart of our mission,” the pope’s speech was short on the sort of detailed battle plan demanded by many Catholics around the world.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

"I think religion's greatest trick wasn't convincing someone there was a God who was all powerful. I think it was convincing everyone else that you couldn't ridicule the idea that was the real trick."

If you look at the history of the Church,
their mission wasn't to spread the so
called 'good news' of Xtionity. Their
real job was to keep to a minimum
the free thinkers who thought they
were nuts and said so. They had to
be dealt with harshly or everybody
would start thinking for themselves
and there goes the Church's power
over them, right out the window.

is this as opposed to all those who thought that something would actually be accomplished because I think everyone knew it would be lots of hot air and nothing else.

OMG, this is hilarious! These lemmings
all tried to kiss the pope's ring and
he jerked his hand back every time.
What an arrogant a-hole.

I noticed someone suggested in the comments it needs this theme music.

You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?

The ring thing is like an SNL skit, he's
smiling the whole time. Like when
a grandpa offers you a treat then
pulls it back and laughs..

Could someone explain to a heathen like me what is going on here? Why are they trying to kiss his ring and why doesn’t he let them?

Because it's tradition to kiss the old
mans ring (and ass) when you meet
him. He's not supposed to pull his
hand back, it's never done. That's why
this is news. I think he's lost it.
