I get that you are being sarcastic here, but seriously. We are talking critical reading here. Things I was taught in about 5th grade.

Sorry AZ. You lose. The choice of the word ‘all’ by Bob was a specific unambiguous choice. He could have said ‘all the gays at my bar’. Or ‘most of the gays that are closeted’. He said ALL. I would not use the word all.... unless I meant it to mean ..... all!

He didn't say "all" though.

This is what he said:

They hate themselves and who they
are, so they'll never be happy. They
could all win the lottery and they'd
still be miserable people.

I've known a lot of Gay people
in my life and never met a
really happy one. They're
always upset about something.
Their looks, their age, politics,
their relationships. Only 2%
of the male population is Gay,
yet the suicide rate in the 2%
is sky high. Very unhappy and
dissatisfied group..
+100

The gay guy in the story I linked to was upset that somebody referred to him as a "HE".
And he was offended that the person didn't refer to him as "THEY".

That's how ridiculous this bullcrap is getting!
Gays in 2020 have it so good that the most offensive thing is to call a guy a "HE". It's insanity man!!

I think this further proves that they really are unhappy and always need something in their lives to whine about. 🙄

It's a hypothetical exaggeration
to make a point. It's called
'hyperbole'. hi-per-bo-lee

"Hyperbole is from a Greek word meaning “excess,” is a figure of speech that uses exaggeration to make a point or show emphasis."

Examples of hyperbole:

This bag weighs a ton. (no soopoo, it doesn't really weigh 2000 pounds}

He's running faster than the wind. (settle down soopoo, he's not running 40mph)

My dad will kill me when he comes home. (don't call 911 soopoo, his dad isn't going to kill him.)

It's called exaggeration for effect,
comedians make a living doing
it. When I said they could ALL
win the lottery and still be miserable,
I was exaggerating the situation
to make my point.

Good grief it's exhausting wising
up the less informed.

Bah ha. If it's something we'd expect you to say anyway, it's likely not hyperbole.
You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?

So if a person is known for
using hyperbole, it's no
longer hyperbole? That's
ridiculous.

Hear Hear!

Tom Leykis always got the same kind of complaints from people wanting him to say "mostly all" or some other modifier. He would always say we are not going to get out the phone book and say, "this one thinks this, but this one does not." It is silly.

It goes back to how I keep saying intelligent people know how to use general examples in a conversation and when another person has done so. Conversation is not math where once false is always false.

I took that to mean "all" of the gays who are unhappy, not "all" gays period. *shrug

I took Bob's comment to mean there are no happy gays. That they all hate themselves. If Bob doesn't mean that, good then. Without doing a deep statistical analysis, I will say most of the gay people I know personally are quite happy. And thankfully they do not have societal pressure to hide anymore.
