LOL

I visited Slab city today
The last free city in the country

This sounds like what Duffman has been looking for. No nanny state. Would be heaven for him.

I've seen some shows about Slab city. Where does all the poop for thousands of folks go?

You didn't take your rv there, because of no hook ups iinm.

I was visiting East Jesus in my truck
I had no idea it was a slab city community
As I drove through Slab city, I was fascinated
Been reading about it and watching videos
I dont know where poop goes

Maybe but I kind of doubt it.
This place gets no services
No water service, no trash removal, no electricity lines
I think somehow it ends up in the nearby Salton Sea
The whole sea is a disgusting mistake

Just as I was fascinated by Slab City
Equally fascinated by nearby Bombay Beach and the Salton sea
Back in the early 1900's, water from the Colorado river was released into the desert creating a sea
It was stocked with fish that thrived and Bombay Beach became a huge resort town despite its days being numbered
No water source. No bottom feeders to help the ecology
It became saltier and dirtier from farm runoff as water evaporated and algae spread
Fish died, place stunk, resort abandoned
I walked the beach and drove around Bombay Beach
No way I was touching that disgusting sea water
Eventually this sea will dry up and all those chemicals in the sea will end up blowing in the dust becoming an ecological disaster

I was inspired to read a few articles about Slab City and they claimed that potable water was delivered on a regular schedule. Didn't talk about sewage but the B&B's have toilets so they must have some reasonable way of getting rid of it.

Ed... you are finding so many interesting places, museums, parks, restaurants, etc.... I’ve known about the disaster that is the Salton Sea. I had never heard of Slab City.
If you had to pick your one favorite experience so far on your journey, what would it be?

Favorite experience
Moving day as I move into a new area to explore.
You never know
I'm in the El Centro CA area
I did not think there was much to see around here.
Boy was I wrong, Bombay Beach, Salton Sea, Salvation mountain, Slab City and East Jesus are all fascinating
Lets not forget the nearby Coyote Flying Saucer Retrieval and Repair (Junkyard artist I visited. Friendly guy but he had to calm his dogs down when I visited)

Nope. Thats a service nobody is willing to pay for
They are there because the land is free
They live as cheap as possible.
One girl says she only has 2 regular bills, cell phone and car insurance.
I went back and checked out some of the businesses and spoke to the locals
I checked out the Internet cafe, the Ponderosa (breakfast and coffee), the Oasis (breakfast and coffee) and the Range (concert venue)
For long time residents
90% outhouse, 10% compost

Did you see any gardening going on? I don't believe it is legal to use human feces as fertilizer in the US (I think) At least if you're selling it. Doesn't mean they aren't though.

The neighborhood that gardens with compost was closed to the public due to the virus
Generally they are quite proud of their setup and like to show it off to the public
The compound is known as Rabbitside, its a botanical art paradise
There are youtube videos
There are others in Slab city that also compost
