If that is so, do they simply not care about the truth?

If they care, how then do they learn the true facts?
I think Terapined has it. The typical older Russian sees only the government propaganda and shrugs at it's untruthfulness. They accept the lies so long as thier income can pay the bills and thank their leaders for the veneer of prosperity. Bear in mind, that they feel relatively wealthy in modern times and thank Putin for that.
They care more about the price of their groceries and will lash out at whoever they perceive as forcing inflation up. But they only get one perspective, so that is the West conspiring to starve them. Few dare to protest and voting does nothing.

If you never hear anything else, how do you know it is untruthful?

It is presented as the truth and they have nothing else to look at, so it is the truth in their minds.

People that see outside news have to decide what to believe. People that see and hear only what the government provides have no clue that it isn’t true.

We have people in the US who never flip the channel…they believe what their station tells them. Many don’t consider a bias or stories being ignored. Imagine that on steroids—you cannot change the channel and your life is generally okay…then you would have no reason not to believe what you see.

The lady I mentioned heard the truth from their daughter, but still believed the government’s story in spite of facts because that is all they know.

The ones that do know the truth and protest can be put away for years. More know as they see other forms of news, but then they have to act to change anything and that is a decision that can cost them their lives.

People are not stupid
Look at alcohol ads in this country.
It's the key to happiness if you believe all the commercials
I suffer from depression
There are millions of us
We are not stupid. We know the ads are BS. We know alcohol is not the key to happiness despite commercials.
In this country, we are flooded with commercials
How many do you believe????????????
The Russians are not stupid
They know the propaganda is BS
It's simple common sense
Really isn't any difference between propaganda and commercials
Commercials are propaganda

Putin claims the invasion is intended to 'de-Nazify' Ukraine.

He was referring to the CIA backed neo-Nazi Azov Battalion.

I have no problem with the idea that there are some bad elements in Ukraine, but so far have seen no evidence, there was even remotely any problem that required 90% of the Russian forces pounding the landscape. Sometimes there are issues which are grey areas where the issues are questionable, but so far as I can tell this isn't one of them.
You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?

Putin used the neo-Nazis as an excuse to invade.

Anytime the CIA hatches another one of their schemes, tens of thousands die. Sometimes millions. Vietnam, Libya, Syria, Ukraine, Ukraine again.

There are extreme horrible white supremacy groups
Homeless camps being torn down
Welcome to the USA

It's a dangerous world out there. Putin proves that. Good thing we have the CIA
Trump was the worst thing ever for NATO
Putin is uniting NATO

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but America is also riddled with Neo-Nazi militias (And, I am not even counting the KKK in that, but its essentially the same thing).

There is a reason extreme right wing terror is one of the largest terror threats domestically.

I am sure every European Country has Nazi group as well. Yes, Nazis exist there, as they do in virtually every White majority country, and in other countries, they have their own racial supremacy groups.... This is not a problem unique to Ukraine....

Anyway, Putin is grasping at straws, he also said they were making Nuclear Weapons....
