"Leprosy has been historically uncommon in the United States; incidence peaked around 1983, and a drastic reduction in the annual number of documented cases occurred from the 1980s through 2000 (2). However, since then, reports demonstrate a gradual increase in the incidence of leprosy in the United States. The number of reported cases has more than doubled in the southeastern states over the last decade (2)."

The quote is from the CDC. So what happened in 2000 that has caused the cases of leprosy to start increasing again????

Reagan gave amnesty to a little less than 3M.

The population was much less then, but don't know the percentages off-hand.

It could be something like that or an internal bio-lab like the one they found in CA recently.

Or possibly Fort Dietrich.

Blaming oppressed groups you don’t like for spreading diseases is like straight out of the Nazi-101 textbook.

I heard of a current/recent viral outbreak spreading rapidly, but I was told it was Pneumonia and not COVID. 🤔

COVID still causing infections and illness. Influenza in second place so far this season, RSV in third place.

Both the news and Facebook have reminded me that it was 4 years ago we were in the height of lockdown fear over this thing. 4 years. Yet you still see some people wearing the masks. There were always a few who did before, mostly some Asians (masks were always a thing there) and some other people might have had some kind of issue. But now there are more. We have one guy in our building who wears not just a mask but a full face shield! The kind you would wear if you were grinding or cutting metal. I mean, really?! Are they that afraid of life?

The whole vax thing seems to have settled. There is the subset of people who will go get their annual booster of course. But for the most part those of us who said we did not need to get it have been proven right. The world did not end because we did not take a shot called a vax but was really not in the true sense.

The free coffee and pop stations in casinos are gone for good, as are the buffets. The casinos knew that was getting to be an out of hand money sink but nobody wanted to pull the plug first. There are more hand sanitizer stations all around, that one I kind of like. Many is the time I get a bit of something from touching this or that, nice to be able to clean up a touch. Though I do not sing the alphabet song as I do it to time myself like some articles suggested when this all was starting.

The reaction to it all was a life lesson to those of us who were smart enough to look at what was happening. Sadly it appears a descent to left-wing fascism in the USA is merely a matter of time. Might be 20 years, might be 100. But we are doomed. As it happens too much of the population will be cheering and asking for more and more rights to be taken away, about 30%. And additional 30% will go along with anything just to keep their nice houses and swimming pools. The remaining 40% will not be able to fight it off.

Sure, some of those people got really sick, or dead also.

People get sick and die. That's life. Anecdotally at least I can say everyone I know who caught it post-vax had the vax. Nobody I know who skipped the vax caught it. And even the vaxers on here said the vax did not stop you from catching it, only lessened symptoms.

Allowing millions of people who are likely not vaccinated for (mostly) childhood diseases into the country is a problem. They could be people of any origin; it is their vaccination status and the diseases that may occur more often within communities with lower immunizations that is the problem. There will always be people that are anti-vax but our protection against whooping cough and many other diseases is best when more people are vaccinated.

I don't blame the immigrants, whatever their status, but I do blame a government that fails to require proper entry, including the basic proof of vaccination, a vaccination program for those with no proof, and other vital screening before shipping them off to live somewhere.

If you want "no borders" then at least protect the citizens of the country and the new residents.

I have yet to meet one person who wants to ban vaccines.

You think Abbot and DeSantis made sure the people they shipped around the country were vaxxed first?
