the Russians arrested 4 Tajiks in regards to the terrorist attack, which was said to be Isis inspired

There is a Tajikistan, which was a former Soviet republic and is now independent.

not much comes up googling, there is a Wikipedia page

>>>

Quote:
The Tajiks are the direct descendants of the Iranian peoples whose continuous presence in Central Asia and northern Afghanistan is attested from the middle of the first millennium BC. The ancestors of the Tajiks constituted the core of the ancient population of Khwārezm (Khorezm) and Bactria, which formed part of Transoxania (Sogdiana). Over the course of time, the eastern Iranian dialect that was used by the ancient Tajiks eventually gave way to Farsi, a western dialect spoken in Iran and Afghanistan

when you see a picture of these monkeys, you can see how people think of them as apes. The idea that a monkey should have a tail is very internalized it seems. Plus, they are reasonably large.

>>>

How did apes get to Gibraltar?

The Gibraltar macaques are actually a tailless monkey called a Barbary Macaque (Macaca Sylvanus). No one is sure how they got to Gibraltar, however, speculation has it they were brought either by the Arabs sometime after 711CE or the British after 1704.
__

What is the legend of the apes of Gibraltar?

Legend has it, as long as the macaques live in Gibraltar, the British will reign. During World War II, Prime Minister Winston Churchill shored up the population as it was dwindling and ordered more monkeys from Morocco.

I have yet to see one of the wild monkeys in Florida. Not sure how they manage to confine them to the Silver Springs area. I know they use various methods to keep the population in check. Still not sure why they wouldn't live in most other wild areas around the state though. OTOH, I suppose, when they move, it's mostly a family or troop. And they are probably radio tagged for tracking. So, maybe it's easier to track them than I think.

For sure state officials don't want them to spread, but I wonder how they do that

If you can capture one Drich, maybe you could get a service animal vest and carry it around on your shoulder.

I check Facebook because relatives post there

When they haven't been posting much, the "feed" will post a bunch of stuff, guessing what I might care for from random posters. You can click to get rid of a particularly irritating one, to get no more of it, but this is futile, as there are millions of them. The algorithm gets fooled, I think, as some of the most irritating sites don't categorize themselves clearly. A typical one will claim to be 'history' while posting a picture of borderline soft porn material, hoping to suck you in to revisiting. Some are very dubious in nature, but for sure will have thousands of 'likes' ... I think you can get a computer to generate thousands of likes for your post if you have the software. Much of this has to be the same problem found at Twitter, tons of nefarious fake accounts out there to spam you

I don't think you can have the Feed to just show posts from friends and other things you chose to follow. However, see below, a claim you can, which I tried to do and failed. Perhaps you were able to do this in the past?

>>>

What is the Facebook algorithm?

The Facebook algorithm is a set of rules that rank content across the platform. It determines what people see every time they check Facebook and in what order that content shows up. Facebook calls this “personalized ranking.” Essentially, the algorithm evaluates every post, ad, Story, and Reel

How do I stop unwanted Facebook feeds?

To set your Facebook feed to only show posts from friends and family, you can follow these steps: [note that below it only claims to 'prioritize' ... also, I couldn't get to anything called "news feed preferences" ]

Open the Facebook app or website and go to the News Feed.
Click on the three horizontal lines in the bottom right corner of the app or the down arrow in the top right corner of the website to open the menu.
Scroll down and select "Settings & Privacy," then choose "News Feed Preferences."
Select "Prioritize who to see first" and then choose "Friends and Family."
You can also unfollow or hide posts from specific people or pages by clicking on the three dots next to their posts and selecting the appropriate option.

By following these steps, you can customize your Facebook feed to prioritize content from friends and family.

googling long words, English only, my opinion in brackets

>>>

Is antidisestablishmentarianism the longest English word?

The English word antidisestablishmentarianism ... is notable for its unusual length of 28 letters and 11 syllables, and is one of the longest words in the English language. [I can buy this as a real word, as it's about whether the Church of England should have been the official religion of England (I believe). I'd be a Disestablishmentarian if it ever came up in America! ]

__

What is the 1 longest word in English?

Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis is the longest word entered in the most trusted English dictionaries. [I don’t think scientific words should count. I’m a antiscientificverbalestablishmentarianist which is not a word]

__

What is the 52 letter word?

Aequeosalinocalcalinoceraceoaluminosocupreovitriolic. This is the longest word in English which is composed of seven words. This 52-letter word was coined by Dr. Edward Strother to describe the spa waters in Bath, England. [if this is not a scientific word it is a hyphenated word masquerading as a real word. Strother is on my $%#%$-list]

__

The Longest Word In The World(?)

1. methionylthreonylthreonylglutaminylalanyl…isoleucine

You’ll notice there’s an ellipsis here, and that’s because this word, in total, is 189,819 letters long, and it’s the chemical name for the largest known protein, titin. Technical words can grow to enormous lengths, but they also kind of suck all the fun out of this question. [Yes, they suck]

su·per·ca·li·fra·gil·is·tic·ex·pi·a·li·do·cious
/ˌso͞opərˌkaləˌfrajəˌlistikˌekspēˌaləˈdōSHəs/
adjectiveinformal
adjective: supercalifragilisticexpialidocious; adjective: supercalifragilistic

extraordinarily good; wonderful.
"the only word to characterize Kepler's discoveries was ‘Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’"

Origin
1930s: apparently a fanciful formation based on super, popularized by the 1964 film Mary Poppins .[when you google this word you see it claimed to be a real word. Of course it is *not* a real word in any serious sense as this shows. These claims otherwise really bother me]

I don't really want to walk around with them but I wouldn't mind having a couple of them on my lanai.
