So how should we treat aliens who land on Earth as part of their interstellar "Corps of Discovery"? It didn't work out so well for the Indians who helped Lewis and Clark (nor the ones who tried to kill them too I suppose). I could see the same happening to humanity if aliens decide to scout resources and map the Earth to solidify their claim to the planet as part of their own "Louisiana Purchase".

Hopefully they'll just need CO2, cockroaches, politicians, and nuclear waste not human slaves or human meat.

There is always that Twilight Zone episode wherein an astronaut was given a room furnished as if it were on Earth and then the wall opens revealing iron bars and an appreciative crowd with a sign reading Earthman in native habitat.

Seriously though, by following known trade routes of the French and Trappers/Traders they were not really exploring unexplored territory, just unknown to them. After all many of their speeches to the Indians were translated into French.

Some friends of mine have left Norway bound for Dover, UK. In an all aluminum homebuilt 30 meter yacht.

If any of you have any "pull" with the weather Gods, please pray for no lightning strikes enroute, particularly when anyone is high on the mast.
