As far as living perfectly. You think back in the day when a doctor told you it would be good for you to stop smoking, he was a non-smoker? Now most of them are. But that didn't make what he said untrue even if he did smoke.

Quote:
Between 1974 and 1977 in the US, Nelson and colleagues [55] reported that 19% of physicians smoked cigarettes

It wouldn't actually surprise me if there was a eventually a movement to start restricting private jet usage to limit their usage to more actual necessity than convenience.

Although there is a lot of justified criticism of carbon offset, that's mostly from jumble of organizations and not enough oversight. Some definitely don't do what they advertise to do. Areas outside the US are difficult to rely on and monitor. Methods of measurement are not always clear.

Because the likelyhood is most of them are scams of one level or another. People pay their little indulgence so they can feel better about themselves and probably 80% or so of what they "offset" goes into G&A of some group. Lots of people drawing a salary off suckers who think global warming is happening yet refuse to turn down their lifestyle.

I have seen the inside of nonprofits. The waste of money is criminal. Really, it literally is. I know a place the AG shut down because of it.

You have to have proper oversight.

For someone who can't tell a rigged election from a real election, I wouldn't give a nickel for their fraud detection. That's about the least complicated thing to examine.

Queen Elizabeth (born 21 April 1926) basically stopped flying interconinentally at ~ age 85 and only flew within Europe for another four years.
24–25 November 2010 United Arab Emirates
25–28 November 2010 Oman Muscat
19–29 October 2011 Australia (for 22nd CHOGM)

15–17 November 2013 The Queen did not attend the 23rd CHOGM in Colombo, Sri Lanka

23–26 June 2015 Germany Berlin, Frankfurt, Celle
26–28 November 2015 Malta (for 24th CHOGM)

CHOGM is short for Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting held every 2 years.

As the queen gets older she travels less and less. Her itemized travel expenses in he latest financial report (only trips over £15,000 are itemized)
£16,182 NHT-ABZ 397 miles 04-Aug-2020 London to her summer home, Balmoral in Scorland
£16,609 ABZ-EGYM 333 mi 16-Sep-2020 Balmoral Scorland to her residence in Norfolk

The British royals can't really fly domestic commercial. But to save money and reduce citizen complaints, royals lower than the monarch frequently fly across continents in first class and then lease a smaller jet to take them and their staff to obscure places locally.

British royals lease privae aircraft. They are important, but unlike the POTUS they don't have to be prepared to go to nuclear war on a moments noice. It is considered more practical to lease a helicopter for ten years at a time and employ full time pilots, and to lease fixed wing per trip.

Cessna began manufacturing the 208B Grand Caravan Medium Turboprop in 1986. The dimensions make it comfortable for 9 passengers. The 208B Grand Caravan has a maximum range of 530 miles and a maximum speed of 202 mph. Although the maximum speed is very low, the Irish President uses a Grand Caravan since the distance from Dublin Airport to Shannon Airport or Cork Airport is 121 miles and 144 miles and a turboprop is quieter than a helicopter.

Prince Charles, famous as an environmental advocate, had to go to Belfast, a flight distance of just over 300 miles. For the historically challenged, Belfast is in Northern Ireland, not the Republic of Ireland, so he is flying within his own country; hence the security concerns are less pronounced. So you would think an environmental activist would lease a Grand Caravan, or possibly a Piaggio P.180 Avanti if he wanted to be seen in a classier turboprop.

But he had to rent a Dassault Falcon to make this short trip.

I'd guess Spielberg and Gates are probably interested in getting actual results from their investment since they're high profile advocates and have the kind of money to look into what is going on with their spent money.

for anyone to buy into it uncritically, well, I guess you'd have to nod your head and say "damn, Exxon I used to think were the worst, but here they are shining bright , as green as can be ..." Or you might wise up after learning companies like that are buying carbon credits like the one where you give money to some outfit in Tanzania to " support indigenous communities" that somehow will then keep the forest maintained

look up green-washing

There’s always this

SAF made from renewable biomass and waste resources have the potential to deliver the performance of petroleum-based jet fuel but with a fraction of its carbon footprint, giving airlines solid footing for decoupling greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from flight.

The U.S. Department of Energy is working with the U.S. Department of Transportation, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and other federal government agencies to develop a comprehensive strategy for scaling up new technologies to produce SAF on a commercial scale.

Even when it is not outright fraud it is waste left and right. These kind of groups attract people who want to be in charge of things. Said people muscle out the people who get involved because they want to do some kind of good. The expense can be legit, like salaries or office space. Lunch for the office staff, etc. In the end in most very little goes to the mission.

But for a person who cannot define a woman I would not expect them to think it is "fraud" unless it was bad guys with guns or something silly.

Your post is not a fact. It is an opinion. If Gandhi was out partying at night with whores and blow would you excuse his behavior as well? The jet setting hypocrites could do BOTH. Contribute to climate change causes AND not be the exact problem they are hoping to prevent.
