I don't know if that is a true statement. Cable TV, newspapers, magazines all went up in price dramatically as the bulk of people converted to electronic delivery,

Yeah, now I'm not sure either. Perhaps if something was already overpriced it would be forced down in price by alternatives. But if not overpriced maybe that doesn't apply.

Maybe it depends on things like the current profit margin of Saudi oil.

You always think of the laws of supply and demand, but it is usually more complex than that,

The closest thing I can think of is the electricity market. HI and CA have the lowest consumption of electricity in the nation and some of the highest prices. In contrast to Norway which has a massive oversupply of carbon emission free electricity, CA and HI are the two states with the highest purchase rate per capita of EVs. CA also imports the most electricity from other states and that will only increase when Diablo Canyon nuclear plant is closed by 2025. Diablo Canyon is the last nuclear power plant in California.

It is somewhat of a debate if consumption is so low in CA and HI because they don' need much electicity, or because it is so expensive that people are very conscientious about how much they use,

According to the EPA to drive a standard 15,000 miles per year:
A Chevy Bolt, a compact car, uses 350 kWh per month
A Ford F-150 Lightning uses 612.5 kWh per month

Compare those numbers to the 2021 sales kWh per month per person in the first column for different states.

California imports more electricity, 57,100 gWh than any state, while Pennsylvania exports more electricity, 90,422 gWh, than any state.

Many of the states with high sales of electricity per person have fairly dirty high carbon dioxide emissions because they are using a lot of coal. Alabama has relatively clean electricity produced from hydroelectric and nuclear plants. They export a lot of electricity to neighboring staes like Georgia, and a lo of forein automakers are building plants in Alabama (10 car and truck models are currently produced in Alabama). One of the main reasons is they are attracted to plentiful reasonably priced elecricity.

I have suggested that Alabama should become the first Republican state to embrace EVs.

World Climate Declaration June 2022

Signed by 1007 scientists world wide including a Nobel Laureate.

As you lefties always say "TRUST THE SCIENCE"

"To believe the outcome of a climate model is
to believe what the model makers have put
in. This is precisely the problem of today’s
climate discussion to which climate models
are central. Climate science has degenerated
into a discussion based on beliefs, not
on sound self-critical science. Should not
we free ourselves from the naive belief in
immature climate models?"

"Global warming has not increased natural disasters
There is no statistical evidence that global warming is intensifying hurricanes,
floods, droughts and suchlike natural disasters, or making them more frequent.
However, there is ample evidence that CO2-mitigation measures are as damaging as they are costly"

Just a little reminder of what the 'scientists' said in 1989.

"UNITED NATIONS (AP) _ A senior U.N. environmental official says entire nations could be wiped off the face of the Earth by rising sea levels if the global warming trend is not reversed by the year 2000."

Correct.

Tuvalu is sinking” is the local catch-all phrase for the effects of climate change on this tiny island archipelago on the frontline of global warming. A Polynesian country situated in Oceania, Tuvalu is no more than a speck in the Pacific ocean, midway between Hawaii and Australia.

The fourth smallest nation in the world, Tuvalu is home to just 11,000 people, most of whom live on the largest island of Fongafale, where they are packed in and fighting for space. Tuvalu’s total land area accounts for less than 26 sq km.

Already, two of Tuvalu’s nine islands are on the verge of going under, the government says, swallowed by sea-rise and coastal erosion. Most of the islands sit barely three metres above sea level, and at its narrowest point, Fongafale stretches just 20m across

Wow 1007
Hmm
Overall that's a pretty meaningless number
Any clown can claim they are a scientist
My understanding is that many work for oil and coal industries. The Nobel winner won his medal in a completely different field not even remotely connected to climate science. I'm surprised the guy is still alive, he's that old. He was born before the depression!!!!!! Probably croak any day now. The last from his era :-)
Let's look at real meaningful facts instead of meaningless Facts. 1007 is really meaningless when say about 98% of scientists are in agreement about what's happening to our climate
I give you Wikipedia
Facts baby. Pertinent facts like % rather then a meaningless number
By the way CO2 is factored in

I think those islands in the Indian Ocean have been 'on the verge' of going underwater for about my entire lifetime. They haven't been any higher than sea level +1 foot to begin with

As for the last few posts, we are thoroughly experiencing just how much it's about politics, with scientists weighing in with gusto

Correct.

The South Pacific volcanic islands only rise out of the water to be worn away to nothing by the action of the ocean, little effect from climate changes. It has been going on for millennia. The big island is the oldest of the Hawaiian Island and 1500 miles east they are just seamounts or atolls as the Pacific Plate has moved west and they no longer had the mantel hot spot to maintain the volcanic activity.

On another note no named storms yet in the Atlantic this year. How can that be possible.

Scientists are well aware of normal erosion. What they've measured is accelerating erosion.
