Sorry to toss rocks at your greenhouse, JCW09, but Oregon and Washington, two of the most liberal states in the union, both are experiencing population growth.

How does this fit into your theory / claim of republican states being the most attractive?

Oh, so far as Texas: lots of new arrivals are brown, same as California, and that is what's fueling white flight from California.

When Tx is mostly brown too, will the whites stick around?

Survey says ...

Oregon was listed in the stats I posted.
Did you miss the abbreviation OR? It stood for Oregon.
Evidently, WA didn't have enough population growth in the 2020 Census to get additional electoral seats
Meaning WA population growth isn't significantly different enough from the overall population growth.

The percentage of Hispanics in CA and Texas is almost identical, so not sure what you mean by "white flight" out of CA?

Are you against the Iditarod sled dog race also? Horseracing?

I don't know what the first thing is. I'm not as much against horse racing as I am greyhound racing, but probably slightly against. I'm no PETA member, but I don't think that animals should exist for our entertainment, besides being well-treated pets. I've heard that the horses are mostly treated well, but haven't really looked into it.

Everything about Texas is ridiculous. They claim to value independence and autonomy, yet there are no legal casinos in the state. Speaking of independence, the state keeps going after an inconsequential tribe with an inconsequential little casino with Class II, "Electronic Bingo," games because...why? I have no idea why they would care; you would have to ask them.

In the meantime, it's one of only four states with active greyhound racing and, along with West Virginia, one of only two who are not phasing it out or have a scheduled year at which it will come to an end. The difference in West Virginia, not that it makes greyhound racing excusable, is that the law ties two Commercial Casinos to active greyhound tracks and creates a, "Greyhound Breeders Fund," that the casinos must also pay into. The casinos would get rid of the dogs if only they could; they lose a ton of money on offering the races.

Of course, Gulf Greyhound Park closed, one of the only positive Covid casualties...so I'm not sure Texas even has any live greyhound events this year. That's good.

It being Texas, I imagine they celebrate after racing days by shooting the winning dogs in the head. The only reason any tracks had ever had it in the last few decades was because the state tied it to being able to offer simulcast.

Of course, you let them throw some Game Kings in there and you wouldn't really need live racing or simulcast.

'Texas' and 'Culture,' are two words that don't belong in the same sentence. Speaking of independence, what would really serve them right is if we annexed their asses back to Mexico. You don't hear Vermont reminding you that it was its own country every five seconds, and for longer than Texas was, at that.

- Texas politics is complicated like everywhere else, but there is much stupidity and hypocrisy involved (like politics everywhere).

- Dog tracks are confined to the gulf coast region and I have never given them much thought. If the animals are mistreated, I share your disdain.

- "Texas and Culture..." Depends what you mean by culture. From your complaints above I take it that you mean that Texas is lacking in spacious halls full of hollow eyed losers bleeding their government checks into chiming machines. We go to Oklahoma and Louisiana for that.

- The Republic of Texas era is an over romanticized point of pride here. The military victory over Mexico was remarkable, amazing even. However the nation that followed was a disaster. Most Texans would have gladly joined the US immediately in 1836, but it could not happen until 1845 when Texas could be added as a state without upsetting the ratio of slave to free states. In the meantime the Republic of Texas was in a prolonged depression with a worthless currency and accumulating debt that was still being paid off into the 20th century.
The mind hungers for that on which it feeds.

I wouldn’t want to live in NYC, FL, or TX.

I don’t care what their census numbers look like. Who decides where to live based on the latest census count?! 😂

The census numbers are an indication of where people move, not why they move.
You look at where people are moving from and where they are moving to in an effort to understand why they are moving.
They're leaving Michigan and have been for decades. Why do you think that is?

Its weather weather weather regarding FL

Because ~90% of Michigan is a sh*thole?

Seriously, I will never understand why you think I care about Michigan so much...

people seem to assume that everyone loves where they live. i think most people are just indifferent.

Isn't there a statistic that something like 60 percent of people never move further than 50 miles from where they grew up

those are the people that i feel sorry for. they never got to explore living in different areas or cultures.

WTF, is it say it three times and its true Ed?
You did bring up the DRich testimony, that was convincing.
Do you think no state income taxes as a result of efficient governance could be a draw to FL?
You're probably right, its the humidity & bugs, I mean the weather.
After all, you did say it three times and click your heels.
It must be true.
Astonishing is the intellect with this one.

I guarantee you, Florida wouldn't be the half the retirement destination that it is if it weren't for the weather.
