The extermination of the passenger pigeon took place in America during peace time and involved solely American citizens. Where is that memorial? |

You learn history at history class at school, or by reading history books. Statues are meant to honor a person or persons, or even events. and this claim that monument to Confederate traitors to the USA represent some kind of essential part of history that must be preserved is bogus. You are missing the point as usual. Lets get rid of the Vietnam Memorial! We lost the war and you can learn about it somewhere else. Lets tear down every MLK statue. You can learn about it somewhere else and isn't it just for blacks? Lets tear down Auschwitz and put up apartments. Better use of the land and you can read about it in history books, no? The tearing down statue thing is right out of "1984." Change history by making people forget about history. The President is a fink. |

Yes. if they want to put up statues to Benedict Arnold or Alger Hiss, they should do so. You wouldn't want people to forget either of them, would you? Now, how about we agree that statues to Confederate soldiers and leaders can stay, as long as each one is labeled with "TRAITOR TO THE USA" in big, bold letters? If you want democracy, put it to a vote. If you did, they would stay. Government is caving to liberal loons who want to live in their own little PC world. They did not put it to a vote.
