If you've been there, it's 5 miles across,
not small at all. It only looks small on a
map. When you cross it on the bridge,
it's very easy to see it's all one lake.

That is small relative to the shape of the rest of the lakes.

"Huron and Michigan are hydrologically a single lake because the flow of water through the straits keeps their water levels in near-equilibrium. (Although the flow is generally eastward, the water moves in either direction depending on local conditions.) Combined, Lake Michigan–Huron is the largest fresh water lake by area in the world."

So is there just one ocean instead of 4 (or 5 if you count the Southern Ocean?)

Well, yes.

Quote:
Though generally described as several separate oceans, these waters comprise one global, interconnected body of salt water sometimes referred to as the World Ocean or global ocean.[15][16] This concept of a continuous body of water with relatively free interchange among its parts is of fundamental importance to oceanography.

But people seem to think it's a stream
you can jump across from looking at
a map. 5 miles across is a giant lake
all on it's own. These lakes look just
like the ocean, people who see them
for the first time are amazed that they
have breaking waves and you can't
see across them.

You can even surf some of them:

Why is TX demanding so much federal aid,
I thought they wanted to succeed from the
US and become their own country. This
would be a great time to show they don't
need the feds money, yet they are begging
for it. lol

Note: the apology was for the handcuffing not the wall slamming. There was of course no need to handcuff her, if the DA was going to prosecute the cops could always find her there at work.

The unconscious driver was rammed by the fleeing criminal and was not suspected of wrong doing so what do they need his alcohol content for?

Feds confiscate the federal tax money, so of course they are asking for aid. If not for that they would surely be able to make do.

The whole point of being part of the whole
is situations like this. A catastrophe of this
size would bankrupt a single state or small
country. But being a small part of the whole,
they will survive.

My wife works for a major insurance co, one
you see in TV commercials every day. They
will be hit hard by this, but will survive
because insurance companies have insurance,
believe it or not. So when something like
this happens, the impact is spread over the
whole industry, worldwide, and no one
company is devastated by it.

Even reinsurance pools can be hard hit. People in the UK used to make money at Lloyds but one devestating year the Arabs reneged on their committments and tried to sue in Arabian courts for fraud.

Texas GDP is the size of Canada's. They could handle it.
