I read this again and again, when I search to
find out why Catholics pray to Mary. And
it's usually at the very end of a lonnnnnng
explanation of why Mary is sacred.

"They know that if Mary speaks to her Divine Son in their behalf, there can be no doubt about their receiving an answer to their prayers."

I see this over and over. It the same in real
life. You get the ear of the mother to the
guy in power, and she presents your case,
and maybe you have a chance. But without
her, obviously, you are such a nobody to
the king that why bother asking him yourself.

It works this way in every company, corporation,
organization, and apparently, religion. It's
the politics of how things work. What's the
point of being the big guy, if every schlub
in the mailroom has access to you. They have
to go thru channels. Mary and the saints are
the channels in the Church.

I don't know how to tell you more clearly that Mary and the saints are not necessary to be in relationship of prayer with Jesus. Ask for Mary's prayers or a special saint's intercession if you would like, if you find it helpful to you, but you do not need to do that. Anyone can go directly to Jesus.

I read more today. Mary gets the job done,
apparently. I'm asking questions and answering
them myself now, how weird is that. Mary is
the Jewish mom in this scenario. She pesters
Jesus till he gives in and gives you what you
want. That's the jist of what I'm reading.

Sounds like you are learning a lot and definitely getting the jist of it. She is a great and proud momma.

You sir are the idiot. I said clearly that we can go right to Jesus if we want, you don't have to go through Mary or the saints at all. You are spreading misinformation and causing division. If you have a shred of decency you would tell your family you were wrong and Catholics like any Christian can go directly to the Lord we love so much.

But from what I'm reading, that's an if'y
proposition. Everybody says going thru
Mary is a guaranteed way to get to Jesus.
How can Jesus refuse Mary anything, is
what they say. Much like using email
to contact Santa, way better than snail
mail..

So you are still learning and you think its an if'y proposition and a Catholic priest has made it clear that Catholics go directly to Jesus and then you say to your sister in law, "Catholics say you have to go thru Mary to get to Jesus." Again she should have called you the idiot.
