Yup. They say you can ask Jesus yourself if you like, but if you want to 'get er done', you have to go thru Mary. They say over and over, 'how can Jesus refuse anything his mother asks of him.' You yourself have said that's why you pray to Mary, or are you taking it back now. BTW, I'm fully aware you've called me an idiot several times, but I totally expect that from Christians. I realize they are constantly at battle with the real world contrasting with the fantastically false world they have been taught in their religion. Frankly, I'm surprised there aren't more of them pulling their hair out in anger and frustration. I'm just thankful the world has removed the Church's claws and you can no longer torture me and steal my property for being a heretic. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

FrGamble Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 67 Posts: 7596 | So the statement you made to your sister in law that, "Catholics say you have to go thru Mary to get to Jesus" is incorrect. You say as much in the first line of your last post. I think you need to correct yourself to your sister in law and apologize. You see there is so much misinformation out there about the Catholic faith that this stuff really bothers me. It is part of the reason I'm on the forum. When someone actually knows they are wrong and purposely delivers false information in a way just to seem to cause division between Christians, well idiot is the nicest thing I could've said. It is more like diabolical. I sometimes ask for Mary's intercession because I love and honor her and the saints and I am comforted by my communion with them as well as the awesome personal love of Jesus Christ who is my savior, brother, and Lord. In Catholicism you go right to Jesus Christ and you also have the blessing of knowing that the saints and angels are praying with you and for you. Just like I pray in charity for your sister in law and all Christians and in their own way they pray for me. In an ultimate act of charity I also pray for you. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

When my relatives talk like that, I treat them with kid gloves because, to an atheist, they sound a few apples short of a bushel and I don't want to be the one to push them over the edge.
Please don't bother. People use prayer as a weapon. 'Well, I'm praying for you anyway!' 'I don't care how much I hate you, I still pray for you every day.' There's actually a thing called 'sarcastic prayer'. They act like they're doing you a favor. Who asked them, I would never presume to pray for someone who didn't ask.. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Here's a thought. You have no power over me with your thoughts and certainly not with your prayers. Why don't you tend to who you are and whatever your multiple problems might be, and I'll do the same for myself. The world is far better off that way. They give you an education, and make you take an oath, and give you a white collar, and tell you you're now somebody important. And of course you believe it, and that's your first mistake. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

FrGamble Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 67 Posts: 7596 | Coming from someone who thinks cockroaches are as important as himself I am not offended. Look Bob, I'll tend to my multiple problems, all I ask is that you don't add to my problems or to others by lying or distorting the truth to cause division. It is really quite simple, admit you were wrong to your sister in law and lets move on. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

You must be joking. That's like asking me to apologize to her for getting the names of Santa's reindeer wrong. They aren't REAL, and Mary and Jesus are not sitting in heaven hanging on your every word. It's fantasy. You can pray to Jesus or Mary or the tree in the park, it will all have the same effect. You'll be talking to yourself. Dan Barker says it best: If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

FrGamble Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 67 Posts: 7596 | So you told someone an untruth and they said a disparaging remark about Catholics based on your lie and now you won't do anything to correct it? Well at least you are giving ample proof of the reality of sin. By the way prayer works, just not to get what you want. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

It's an untruth about a fantasy that doesn't exist. I won't be your enabler. You're so caught up in fantasyland, you want the rest of the world to join you so we can all pretend to be talking to dead people.
Really. So what's all this about. Matthew 18:19 19 "Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. Matthew 21:22 22 If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer." Mark 11:24 24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. John 14:12-14 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. John 15:7-8 7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. These are only some of the promises Jesus made about prayer. Yet you say the opposite. Don't you find that odd? (last time I posted these quotes you ignored them) If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

FrGamble Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 67 Posts: 7596 | Oh Bob I would move Heaven and Earth if it would help you understand these things. If you had to translate the above what would you say is the meaning of that sentence? What about if I said, "Bob, I would do anything for you, ask of me and I will give it to you." What does that really mean? I'm sorry I ignored you at first, sometimes I think these obvious things you are just kidding about. I am not kidding though about trying to correct your mistake. I don't care if you think it akin to getting the reindeer's names wrong, it means something to your sister in law and to me. I'm sick of my fellow Christians getting a bum steer by people spreading misinformation. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |
