No he didn't. That action did not cause a shortage. It actually increased the applicant pool.

Now, you can argue if it is wise to increase the applicant pool to get more minorites instead of being 100% merit based. But, you can't say it caused a shortage over existing circumstances (because it simply didn't.)

If ALL of Congress really doesn't want shutdowns happening (which doesn't seem to be the case) they could fine everyone $500 a day, every day it's shut down.

Pretty sure that would at least shorten them.

Lowering qualification standards always increases the applicant pool - of unqualified applicants.

As you see it, tossing a list of thousands of college educated FAA qualified applicants who already passed the Air Traffic Stratagic Apptitude Test, in order to hire blacks and other minorities, when 1,000-1,200 of the 14,000 ATC's are leaving the job every year, and it takes two to four years to train replacements, didn't cause the current ATC shortage.

The math doesn't lie, we can see total new hires and total ATC employees. 2015 was an increase from 2014, and 2016 was an increase from 2015.

What you are citing does not change the training pipeline, all it does is indicate more likely to do well during training. All that stuff you cited is literally irrelevant to training length, you don't even study for the aptitude test (it's basically an IQ test that can be taken on the spot.)

It is morally wrong. Ethically wrong. But it is THE LAW. . These bozos (House, Senate) WRITE THE LAWS! When this shit show is over how come not ONE of them will write this law….

‘In the event of a ‘government shutdown’, all employees compelled to work during such will be paid as if there is no shutdown’ . THEY CAN ENACT SUCH A LAW.

They can also pen this law. In the event of a ‘government shutdown’, the following will be funded at the same level it has been, SNAP, DEA, ICE, FBI, TSA, (etc.). Basically allow a government shutdown to mean some museums are closed.
