Flag fall plus distance plus time.... I don't see about no "surge pricing". Is it hidden in 'flag fall'? Then lets see 'flag fall plus surge premium plus distance plus time. |

And that's why people want meters, they're sick of getting screwed, no matter how 'transparent' you say it is. They want to see what they're paying for as it happens. Imagine a taxi driver telling you at the start of a trip the fare would be $7 to $9. No meter. You get there and it's $13, or so says the driver. You have no choice, he swiped your card already. That's Uber. And it's already happened to me. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Correct, plus surge. When you book a trip the app tells you the surge. So you know in advance. It's not hidden. |

You DO know what you will be charged. Flagfall, distance and time charges are all easily available online just like the same are for cabs. The passenger is told the surge prior to booking so that's open as well. Not sure why you think it's all so mysterious. Uber can only estimate the fare so well, there are other factors that come into play. What you are actually objecting to is a business pricing it's good/services based on current supply/demand. You're perfectly welcome to object on that basis but just remember EVERY business prices that way, they just don't change prices in real time like Uber does so it isn't as noticeable. |

kenarman Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 14 Posts: 4516 | I have seen numerous interviews with people that paid atrocious surge charges. They claimed they had no idea the charge would be so high. I have never taken Uber or looked at the app so I don't know if it is true. The one interview that sticks in my mind was a News Years Eve surge. He showed his credit card charges. I can't remember the charges to the penny but his trip into town was about $50 his trip home was over $300. "but if you make yourselves sheep, the wolves will eat you." Benjamin Franklin |

The guy running Uber is an out of control power hungry loon, he'll ruin them for sure. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |
