It would be and has been the opposite of hilarious. Look at Stalin or the French Revolution. You and Nareed are very naive.

Stalin believed in class struggle and the supremacy of socialism, and that's the nature of the mass movement he led. He did not conquer Central Europe in order to impose a lack of belief in god. You'd know this since the various churches in the USSR and its satellites continued to operate, albeit under the same level of repression as everyone else.

The French Revolution is more complicated. There were plenty of factions, all tangled in alliances, fights, betrayals, etc. The anticlerical faction was neither very strong nor very popular, past the idea of doing to the church's property what had been done with the nobility's.

And you overlook, too, that after the Thermidorian coup, the Directors went on their own White Terror which matched the earlier Terror atrocity for atrocity, regardless of what they did for the Catholic church in France.

About Xtionity, yes I am, on purpose. The
more I read, the more appalled I am that
people actually believe it. But when I talk
to them and find they have only the most
cursory knowledge of their own religion,
I get it. They're sheep, they go willingly
where they're led. Xtionity is like McDonalds
or any fast food joint. Why should you go
thru all the trouble of buying the ingredients
and cooking yourself, when it's all been done
for you. Why think for yourself when religion
has done all the heavy lifting. Say a few words,
throw something in the plate, and your life
is taken care of. Or so you think..

I don't understand why you would say this. Why is believing in a religion not an example of thinking for yourself?

So they
make up evidence and use faux logic to
try and trick others into becoming believers
too.

Can you give an example of this made up evidence and faux logic?

Every talk to your average Xtion? They
know as much about other religions
as they know about astrophysics. They
were indoctrinated into the religion
as toddlers, why look any further. No
thinking involved, just accept blindly
what you were taught.

Every example you've used as logic
proving god exists. Every example
of evidence you've given that god
exists. It's all theory and conjecture,
not evidence. The logic you use is
based on assumptions, not facts.

Is this what I sound like when I talk about atheists?!? I'm so sorry if that is the case.

I do not think atheists just blindly accept what they were taught, I think they have put some thought into it and believe what they believe because they think they are correct. They are absolutely wrong of course and sadly mistaken, but I would never think so poorly of someone to think they were just blindly following what they read in some book or following how they were brought up or any of the many other ways someone might become an atheist. Evenbob, why do you think so poorly about Christians?

This is a textbook answer when you don't really have anything to say. I ask you for an example and you can't point one out in particular and instead just say it is everything. Isn't it you who keep trying to tell us that you can't possibly be wrong all the time? Can you give one example of faux logic and explain why and one example of evidence and explain why it is not evidence?
