You're qubbling: "internment camp" vs. "concentration camp."

Check the two images: one in Nazi Germany., the other is the Oregon desert.

No, I am quibbling on you blaming "systemic racism" for relocation that was clearly based on nationality.

Its wrong, it should have never happened, and reparations should have been issued immediately after they were disbanded. But, it does not put America on a moral level with Nazi Germany, or Japan. One side was clearly acting on the basis of security, one side was clearly motivated by racism (the kind of camps that Japan and Germany ran, and the kind of camps you did not leave). If America put all Asian Americans in detention it would be a valid argument for racism, this is not what happened.

Now, America was still racist in other regards (segregation) during this time period, but this military policy was not. It was a terrible practice, and even if effective (which as much as it clearly was, does not make it right), that sadly was put in place due to (in many cases legitimate) fears of internal espionage.

There is a lot that America has done wrong in history. However, actions in WWII would probably not near anywhere the top of that list. I tend to be very biased towards defending America's actions during wars.

OK then, defend our involvement in Iraq.

I haven't scanned a lot of WW2 political cartoons to assess an average, but in my opinion the Japanese image is here more deliberately skewed emphasizing racist features.

You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?

They had WMDs.

Invisible ones. Which makes them even more dangerous.

So what? Are you concerned that we offended a nation that attacked us?

To win a major war one thing you have to do is make the other side seem unhuman. To get the population to outright hate them. Like Vietnam did to us. These days we are too afraid of sounding "racist" for anything. One reason the USA will never win a large scale war ever again.

The systemic racism in America was on display in WWII when the USA set up concentration camps for people of Japanese ancestry but not of German ancestry.

Heck, they even took the property of those of Japanes ancestry who were interred .

The obvious question: why only inter the Japanese when the Germans were presumably as culpable / likely to work against the American war effort?

The answer of course is systemic racism.

No, the answer is not "racism" even as much as the left likes their lives to revolve around finding racism.

Japanese Americans were concentrated in Hawaii and along the west cost. Because they differed in appearance it would be much harder to pick out a Japanese agent who sneaked into the USA for sabotage or other missions if they assimilated in this group. So they were moved from these coastal areas. If they lived far inland, say they had a city in a rural state like the Mormons have in Salt Lake City, then it is unlikely this would have happened.

Americans of German descent were both more assimilated and had shown not to cause problems previously in WWI. Also far larger in number it would have been impractical to move them.

You’re spouting typical racism.

Once you deem something is necessary, then you do it.

If some man started firing bullets into your house, you’re going to deem it necessary to possibly react with your own gun. Air Force pilots, even today know they are likely going to kill innocent civilians. If you decide that letting a dying person go as they wish, instead of trying to keep them alive, then you do what’s necessary. Same with euthanizing your beloved dog when you see him just suffering. You don’t need to sell people on how bad a serial killer is, just tell them the truth and if he’s bad it will sell itself. Both you and a surgeon can deem it necessary to put a knife in a man’s heart for completely different reasons.

creating and selling false narratives is unnecessary. That’s how you lose the public support, not how you gain it.

Lets try this another way. Japan sneak attacked us. You say a billboard shows them in a "racist" way? BOO HOO HOO!

When you are at war you do not care if something is "racist."

To be quite honest the USA is overly concerned about racism to the point that it blinds half the nation to clear dangers. It will probably be a big part of the downfall of our society.

Racism has been failing since it started. Hamas and ISIS have worked the hatred angle for all it’s got them. Defeat after defeat.

Exactly. They had chemical weapons which are very hard to trace.
